Why has Sinemet xr been stopped?

My dad was taking Sinemet xr which was working really well for him. He was then switched to Levodopa which does not control his symptoms as well and the symptoms are now much more noticeable. I have heard rummers that they ran out and that it will be available again at the beginning of 2011. Does anyone have any information on this subject?

Yes I meant sinemt cr. Here in the uk it seems to have been stopped apparently due to a shortage. His doctor prescribed Levodopa which does not work as well. Yekkino were do you live? My dad seeing his specialist next week so maybe he can shed some light on this subject.

I'm in the U.S. and my mom started on Parcopa around Nov. and has had great results. It's just like Sinemet but it's for people who has trouble swallowing like my mother. You just put it in your mouth and let it dissolve slowly. So far so good. She was on Stalevo for years and 6 months ago she stopped wanting to take it because it;s so big. Due to her not swallowing it fully or spitting it out behind my back, she was not getting enough meds in her system which caused all kinds of problems. Now she's a good patient and takes it on schedule and it's one less worry for me. Good luck.
