how to wean off Sinemet

To test if I really have PD, some suggest weaning off meds. I've only been taking for 6 weeks. How should one wean themselves safely? I take 3 25/100 a day. thanks!

It's true that some docs will have a patient try Sinemet as a diagnostic tool. If you respond favorably to it, that is an indication of Parkinson's. However, there are a few folks who do not respond favorably and still diagnosed with PD.

I would strongly encourage you to work with your doc on titrating off Sinemet. You should be able to call the doc's office and speak with someone - your doc's nurse would be a good one to start with.

My mom got very ill from meds one time, and they took her off Stalevo cold turkey. She had no issues. She was taking the 150's 6 times a day.

Not suggesting it, just letting you know our experience.
