Does anyone have any experience of a cough related to pergolide?
I have been on 1mg Pergolie 3xday for just over 2 years & 6 months ago a daily does of 1mg Asilect (rasagiline) was also prescrbed.
Since then I have had a terrible cough that I cannot get rid of. It is a productive cough - often worse in the morning & I cough until I vomit sometimes. Ive been treated with various antibiotics, steroids- oral & inhaled, but nothing seems to help.
A chest x ray is clear, sputum samples negative & a broncoscophy inconclusive.
I have heard that Pergolide is known to have a persistent cough as a side effect- but gp says its the wrong sort of cough.
My consultant is reluctant to stop the pergolide as it works well for my PD - Ive previously tried Ropinerole & Cabergoline but the nausea & tireness these cause was unbearable.
I just wondered if anyone else has experience of a pergolide related cough & can tell me what its like?
I have previously had Asthma but have been symptom free for 20years or more This is different - I never had a cough with it before & I am not struggling for breath like with asthma & there was no improvement with treatment with Prenisolone
Thanks
