I was listenting to an itunes podcast (60 second daily science) and it had an episode on coffee and smoking and how it related to this disease. It said that those who smoked and drank coffee had a smaller chance of developing the disease, but it was unknown why. I began thinking, what do they have in common? Coffee is acidic, and those that smoke will obviously be more acidic due to the O2/CO2 levels, etc. Then I researched parkinson's a little more. Folic acid was lower in those with parkinson's. High serum Uric acid levels may protect against parkinson's. Webpages galore talk about
all the different things that help or hurt the disease, but no known cause is found. They allude to things about
the antioxidant properties of certain things or whatever else in helping fight it, but not the idea of the ph level. Is there more research done that I am unaware of about
blood ph level and parkinson's? Perhaps how the acid level may maintain the brain cells associated with the disease? It would be interesting to do a study on what people with the disease suffer and what they eat. i.e. if milk is basic, does a history of higher or lower intake of this impact the desease progression? Any ideas on where I may find answers???
Thanks
