How long for biopsy results?

My uncle had his biopsy yesterday and they took 12 cores. His prostate was normal size and the doctor said he did not see anything unusual via the ultrasound. When asked if that was a good sign he said he wished he could say it was but we won't know anything until the results come back in 2 weeks. If he finds out sooner he will call.  Is this a normal waiting time for biopsy results? He is 68 years old, psa jumped from 2 to 8 in 18 months.

Took about 5 days to get my results back, as I recall....a phone call I will always remember, unfortunately.

My results were one week later.  My doc said he always scheduled the biopsy and the results appointment a week apart since it usually took most of that time to get the results and he likes to give the report in person.  I'm grateful he did - much better to get bad news in person than a phone call.  He gave us plenty of time to ask questions and he went over a lot of issues we hadn't even thought of. Wow. These guys had speedy labs. My results were always at least 10 days. One was two weeks. It's hard waiting, but take the time to do things with your uncle you have always meant to do, or something he likes. It will take your mind of it.

Don's doctor called with the results the day after and we spent an hour with the doc the following day.

Thanks everyone for your input. Hopefully, the results will not take the full 2 weeks. The doctor said he would call as soon as he received the results.

My biopsy was June 18th 2007 and the results came (via phone) on June 21st.
