Hi everyone I want to introduce myself. I joined this club in Oct. 07 when I had a routine physical. Had my PSA check and it was 36.  Nov.07 had the biopsi done and found 11 of 12 cores 90% pos. It took till Jan. 08 to get my day with the Davinci (man that thing is cool) the Cath??? was a real treat had it removed 10 day later(boy that was another feeling I don't want to experiance again). The leaking seemed to be under control till I returned to work then someone opened the tap and boy did it run. After 2 months had my PSA rechecked it was .7 which wasn't low enough for my Dr. so now it's Lupron for 2 months then hopfully Radiation in June 08. So now I have to ask the first shoot of Lupron was in the arm which was sore for a couple days. The latest one was in the butt. The shot was nothing but a day later someone hit me with a baseball bat. How is everyone elses butt feel? And they tell me I could be on this the rest of my life ( thats something to look forward to).

Hi Gary,
Welcome to the best site on the web for patient to patient interaction. You will do well with the radiation therapy. I have faired well. My Lupron call is for two years, not two months, and I was kinda wondering why your oncologists does not suggest a longer time frame. I do hope the best for you and can tell you that this is a great site to hang around and get caring support. God Bless and stay positive. keep us posted.

My dad described it exactly the same way.  He felt like he had been hit with a baseball bat.  He has had a few shots now and he is typically sore for a couple of days and then it is ok.  I guess the only positive is that at least they have the 3 and 4 month shots, that way you don't have to feel like you get hit with the baseball bat every month.  Hopefully you will breeze through the radiation and HT with minimal side effects.  My dad had a few GI side effects from radiation that were easily controlled with Imodium.  Otherwise, he did pretty well.  We are hoping and praying for an undetectable PSA for his first PSA test following radiation.  Good luck with everything and keep posting!

I've had 2 Lupron shots in the butt (Aug '07 and Feb '08) and they were nothing. For the 2 years from Jan'05 to Jan '07 I had "every 3 monthly" Zoladex spring loaded (to insert a capsule) shots in the abdomen - now that's a really lovely experience. Including the very large black and blue mark for weeks afterward.

Hi everyone I was just trying to add a little humor to this crappy disease. I am very positive and have a very up beat additude. I have to believe in the system this stuff is slow growing so I believe they will develope something in the future to cure it.  I am not growing any man boobs yet.

Ouch,

My brother always kids me and asks if I'm growing the man boobs, and I tell him if I do I better never catch him whistling.  Instead my side effect is that I am now a better shopper than my wife.  I can also drive while shaving and talking on the cell phone.  War Eagle wants to start a home decorating company, and we already have some potential customers.  One day this may happen...Ouch.

I tell my wife I may not need her when it happens. I only experianced a couple hot flashes at night so far, I made a attempt to stay away from watching any chic flik I don't want to see if I will break down and ball.

Heck, I well up when my wife says she's gonna watch a chic flick. Especially if she doesn't invite me to join her. Women can be so insensitive.

TC sounds like you have a pretty up beat additude. thats the things that make the day a lot easyer. My wife is going though menopose now so it's funny in bed with the blanket off me on her then off her on me we cannot get our timing right. So how did you handle American Idol this week?

I'm just another lemonade maker here.  Why cry over a lemon when I now have an excuse to over a ballgame.  Gary, the folks here are great and will keep you positive.  And that makes life a lot easier.  My QoL has not suffered over prostate cancer.  We've had our bumps in the road, but keep moving forward.  My serious side can kick in at any time on you, so try not to trigger a mood swing... tongue .  I'm flying across country tonight and don't want to start it off on the wrong kind of ball game.

Gary my lupron experience has been the same way. I get the shot and feel ok that day, and then the next three or four days my butt feels as though it was hit by a truck. Thank goodness it does go away. I to have found humor in this crazy disease, and often laugh at the side effects. I ask my doctor a few weeks ago if I would always be impotent and he ask me if I had any libido, and my reply was no, so he said what difference does it make then.
I have been on lupron for 11 months now, and will likely be off and on for life. I have found many a blessings thru cancer as weird as that sounds. Even though life has changed in some realms I will have to say it has opened my eyes to many a possiblities and it will you to. Please keep us posted as to how things are going. May I ask what your symptoms were when diagnosed?

Livinadream I was getting up a couple times a night to pee for years which I blamed on first the quanity of beer I drank then I quit drinking then I drank coffee like water all day long so I didn't think anything of it till I started having trouble peeing. Also I had real bad back aches at night which went away after I got up so I didn't think anything of that probley job related??? TillI had it removed the back ache went away.

Doting when I need help will you get me in touch with Mr War Eagle?

I have a young wife and the change (her's) has affected the temperature of our abode often.  Her hot flashes and my cold from blood thinner are not a match made in heaven. 

Debbie keeps wondering when our hot flashes will become synched so we can either have cover or kick it off and can both agree what temp to set the AC.

As for the man boobs, I DONT WANT TO TALK about IT! (while Debbie cackles)

We are currently living in a 30 foot RV so it sure is a good thing that we are soooo compatable.

Smilingoldcoot Now it has progressed to the car she turns on the air, me the heat, then me the air, her the heat. My poor little VW doesn't know which way to go.So how is everyones sex drive or lack of going.
