Question about PSA score

I'm 25 and was wondering if a 0.3 ng/mL result is considered good for a young man like me? What is the average for someone my age?

No family history. But after I ejaculate, there is a burning pain when I pee and I can feel a little bit of pain around my prostate area.

Solid8--I'm curious as to why your doctor did  a PSA test at your age?   Was it because of the symptoms you had--maybe prostatitis? Do you have a family history of prostate cancer (dad/brother) ?

I don't know that many statistics exist for men your age, but I'd guess that 0.3 ng/mL is low and normal.

You can. Unfortunately, these things can last a bit longer if it doesn't respond to the antibiotics well. Sometimes changing the antibiotics will work better.  Also, if this is an injury of some sort, you just have to weather the healing.

But ease your mind. It is VERY uncommon for prostate cancer at your age. Certainly not impossible, but unlikely. Other illnesses are more prevelant for those in your age group up to and including prostititis, bladder injfection, testicular disease. Here's a couple questions for your doctor:

1> What is the plan of action if this does not clear up soon?
2> What timelines can we set up to expect to see improvement ?
3> Since this is causing me concern, are there any proactive steps we can take to illiminate other diseases?
4> How often have you seen a person my age for this type of problem?

The last question is perhaps for your own consideration. Be careful not to offend the doctor. If the doctor has not seen many your age, perhaps you might consider a second opinion from someone who has more experience with your age group.

Write down your thoughts. When you go back to the doctor, and you have your thoughts organized you will get more out of your visit with him. This is an experience I did not learn until I had found my cancer. I'm glad to extend that experience to you. You are a smart guy for asking around and taking this under your control.
