Ok my PSA came back at 1.01  a year ago it was .99 so I do realize this is probably a small change. Didnt I read that you do not want to see gradual increases because that ment PC and a big spike usually ment prostitius ???

I feel guilty posting here when mine is ok I guess for a 49 yr old man but I still have in the back of my mind it may be creeping up....

I still have some discomfort under the scrotum like a pulling dull ache when I sit alot. I spend many hours behind the wheel of a car and riding mower woner if it may be a connection....

My Uroligist said the increase is not even an increase as far as he is concerned, but then again its not his !

Thanks fellas and I hope we all can be healthy. I need some Valuim or something I hate this stuff...

You know not to worry about posting. Everybody has their moments and this one is yours. I don't know alot of the psa creeping up alittle but doesn't seem to be a whole lot to worry. Kent got a small script for xanax when he was worrying so much. Lowest dose and it just helped him calm down during the times he worried so much. Never even affected him that much. Just helped. Do what you need to get thru this time.

Your uro is right. you have nothing to worry about. .99 to 1.01 is statistically the same number.  creeping up means .99 to 1.99 to 3 etc.  If he feels nothing with a DRE and your PSA is 1.01, go have a drink and go make love and celebrate that you are healthy. Life is way to short to worry about your numbers! You're one of the lucky ones!

thanks guys, selmer LDL is 129 HDL is 55 total is 200 ratio is good I guess. I am 49 yrs old 5' 9" tall and weigh about 180.

I run/ walk 4 times a week and TRY to eat half way decent... And ALWAYS wear a seat belt

DRE reveles an enlarged but normal feeling Prostate to my GP and my Urologist. He said he is NOT concerned at all at this time and feels my numer is good givin the size of my gland.

I do worry, if not about this then other things but I try not to.

Just keep wondering why it is going up and how to get it to go the other way,lol

Am I reading the info on "Bobs Wife" post right ?? His psa is .3 and .14 increass and he has PC ?? Mine is 1.01 and I am younger and you guys say No problem ????

He was diagnosed with his psa 1.7 ????

PSA 1.7  Nodule felt. Biopsy 4+4 T2B

1-30-06 Surgery, Infiltrating adenocarcinoma.Nodes & margins clear

Post op Gleason 7  T2c 4+3 PSA .04

12-07 PSA jump .14  (11 Months)

12-07 Nodule felt -  biopsy negative

PSA .16

PSA .17

4-3-08 PSA .32 ouch

4-15-08  Nodule size increased.

5-8-08 PSA still .32

5-15-08 Bone scan clean, nodule size increased. Biopsy scheduled for 5-22-08

5-30-08 Biopsy came back cancerous. Next step consultation with oncology 6-5-08 for further scans & test.

Read the whole thing.  He had his prostate REMOVED and the PSA has crept back up.  Quite a different situation from yours....

The way I read it he was diaganosed at 1.7 that isnt far from mine now ...

Selmer; I eat Oatmeal for breakfast every morn with skim milk, only drink skim milk, usualy stir fry chicken and rice for lunch red meat once a week, do eat sweets, ice cream once a week. My build is stocky .

I could loose a few pounds but bike , walk/run often. asprin daily along with vitiman. Not much soda maybe once or twice a week. Non - alcohol beer. No coffee or caffine or alchol.

Still could be better but I want to enjoy some things !!

I believe the urologist. You stay on top of this and you won't have any worries. But you seem to be a bit worried, and I would say, don't sweat this. For you, you would need to see a few consecutive increases, taken 6 mos to a year at a time, to a measurement over 2.5 to be concerned. My 49 year old brother is below 2 and he does not sweat it even with a brother who has advanced prostate cancer. We take the time to enjoy the good things in life and so you should too. Life is too short to spend anytime worrying about these things.

I wish you peace. But you must believe in it, too.

I recently read 98% of worries were about things that never happened. Of course you are going to die along with the rest of us but, worrying won't stop that from eventually occurring. I use to do a lot of traveling and worrying and taking tranquilizers, they will cause problems also. I think the best solution is to turn your problems over to God and Christ. He has promised that, if you seek him, He will take care of you and one day give you a place to live where there is no PC.

Thanks again, this sure is a strange diesease, I see your PSA was 4.5 and you are 73 yrs old. I thought that was considered low ??

so reading this your psa was low for 73 yrs old ????

Selmer, thx for the insight. With your PSA's have you ever had or plan a biopsy ? If not what is you plan IF PSA rises at what point would you biopsy ??

sounds good get back to me after the 4th I am curious on your thoughts on his MRI theroy and his info on needle tracking from biopsys. hey who knows and I hope you are right about me having years before I need to worry

Extending Selmer's excellent suggestions about avoiding over-treatment, I uncovered this in another forum, from one Lorenzo Q Squarf who has taken "don't touch me" attitude with his PCa:

The above document is but one survivor from his original web-site, which sadly is now just a shell. Last I heard, he is still alive, but no longer writing about prostate cancer. Unfortunately I don't know his current state of health.
