I forgot to mention in my other post that my uncle has severe hot flashes.  I have read online that there is a medication that can help.  Has anyone here used a medication or soy to help hot flashes?

My hot flashes from hormone therapy is not bad enough to seek medical help.  On the other hand my wonderful wife used clonodine (sp) which is a high blood pressure medication for hot flashes while going thru menapause.  She felt it did some good.

I read that there are medications for depression that might help the hot flashes. The one study on Paxil was from 2003. He is calling his doctor today.

this may sound funny, but when I was at The Cancer Treatment Center of America for my treatment, they ask me about hot flashes and I naturally said yes that I do have them frequently. they suggested accupuncture, now please understand I am a southern boy skeptic, but reluctantly thought what the heck I have nothing to loose, and wanted to experience one time anyway. Well much to my surprise for the next two months I did not have a single hot flash. Even though I have been back to the hospital twice I have not repeated this, but for others it just might be something you want to try and it does give immediate relief however like anything it is temporary or was for me.

This does not sound funny to me at all. My family has used accupuncture for various reasons. I told my Uncle and he is alo a little skeptical. After I told him what we used it for and had amazing results he is now considering it.
