Healing Well Friends,
I am now ten days post surgery/implant. First, a disclaimer: I am posting merely from a standpoint of personal exerience, and should not be considered a recommendation or lack of recomendation of the AUS or IPP device. That which may sound positive does not mean others will/would/have experienced the same.
I had surgery on Wednesday. This past Monday I went to work. I do not do manual labor, so I think mine would have to be considered "light duty". But I did not miss a day and the hours actually went on into the evening. I probably should not have gone that long, but it seemed necessary. I seem not to be worse for the activity and may be even better for it.
My incisions and surrounding tissue is no longer swelled, although stiches have not yet dissolved. The awful, ugly bruising has disappeared. I cannot tell I have the AUS in place, if it were not for a reduced urine stream, which may or may not be due to that device in place. The IPP is a different matter. The device is rather stiff, but I am told it will soon limber up. Because it is still "new", it causes that part of my anatomy to stand out and up more than usual. It may be that my "package" will from now on look a little fuller. But that is not what I am after. I am in touch with two or three others who have had the IPP and they testify that the look will become more natural. I will see. The fact that the device is still rather stiff and causes the penis to stand up and out a little, I have experienced more pain there than in the area of the AUS. As I said, I am told that will get better. I have to keep everything pretty much pinned upward than allowing everything to dangle.
The bottom line is that I am better and I think much better. The devices will be activated in three more weeks and the real proof will be in that pudding... and the subsequent experiences. I am told that pain could occur when the practice pumping begins and yet others say it will be fully operational then. Each man is evidently a little different.
I supply this information for the sake of those who may be considering such options, but it really should be the very last option,. I am looking forward to becoming continent again and to having normal relations with my wife.
My email address is available should anyone have a questionl deemed too personal to post. Thanks KW and Piano for the reminder to be humorous. KW, of course your time is coming. So I close with this humorous true story. This disease and subsequent left-overs has taken all my modesty. Now my attitude... almost... is, "if you want to look, Look." ... In the hospital the morningl after surgery, I had my eyes closed and heard a rustling and footsteps in my room. I opened my eyes and beheld a room full of white-coated medical students...I think an entire urology class. The resident doctor was standing over me. So without a word, I lowered the covers exposing whatever I looked like. Everyone looked intently, the resident asked a few questions, then they all left, just as stone-faced as when they entered. I'm really glad they didn't burst out with laughter. Don't think I could have handled that!
