cool  hi guys lemon lime here 6 weeks out of robotic surgery ,question , 3 days ago i thought i was making a big turn 4 pads a day wow. yesterday and to day bamb , just like the catherter was removed back to 7 a day is this suppose 2 be normal ,, ty also did any 1 have 2 take potassium supplements because of urinating so much .... thank u guys so much for your help have a great week end. sorry forgot to put in 48 yrs old  gleason 6 , 3+3  all clear after surgery , 3 month comin up in nov  ty

As you probably know from reading all over this forum everyone is different and there are no guarantees. I can only tell you I am 16 weeks out and almost dried-up. I wear one pad a day, but right now that is more a safety net than anything else. However, at 12 weeks I had a reversal for about a week. Looking back I had gotten cocky stating to my spouse that I was almost dry and would be in a matter of days. What followed was a lot of squirting and going through 3-5 pads a day for about a week - this was very disheartening. I know that at the time I was doing a lot of working on my feet, and I had also ramped-up my drinking of diet cokes (which seem to aggrevate the situation).

Beyond that, things starting improving again. It however seems to be a very gradual process (at least for me). Improvements are hard to measure daily. I encourage your patience. You may want to try the kegels. I really have done little of that myself. I could never tell it helped. I wish you well, and hope you will soon be able to look back on this with some sense of humor.

Lupron administered 4/9/2008 for 4 months (with idea I would undergo external beam radiation followed by seed implants - then I changed my mind).

Are you feeling better after painting the bathroom?

As far as the leaking goes, my experience has been sort of like 2 steps forward and 1 step back.  Over time you make progress but it will take a while.  I think what you are experiencing is normal, however stay in touch with your docs. From what I understand, after surgery we have to condition our muscles that control our urination.  My doctor told me the best thing to do is to stop your urine in mid-stream and hold back the urine for 10 to 15 seconds.  He said you need to do this every time you urinate and this activity builds up the muscles.  Keep working at, it can take months to recover continance.

I heard an interesting discussion at a prostate support group the other night. It involved blood pressure medication and urination. One of the fellas had put up with constant incontinence following prostatectomy for over two years. Somebody he knew suggested he ask his doc if his blood pressure medication included a diuretic. It did, his doc changed his medication to eliminate the diuretic and his incontinence resolved itself very quickly thereafter. I suppose it stands to reason that the last thing you need while incontinent is a medication that's designed to increase the removal of water from your body (especially during the small hours of the morning).

 thank u all for reply it really helps to git support there are no prostate support groups in our area . maybe i should try to start 1 but probably like every 1 else you have to have the time thanks again  lemon lime . ps navy , i did finish the bathroom . must have done to good now she wants the kitchen done lol. ty smurf

I too had that problem with the Diovan I was taking for blood pressure. Probably the wrong choice but I quit taking it due to the leaking. After I get my AUS activated I will start back on it. But dont do this because I did. Ask your Doctor for a different medicine.
Hang in there Lemon. I'm sure your control will come back soon.

Just jumping in here - I've already recounted my story about seeing my doctor for the 3 month check up and pad weigh in. I was doing really well (for me), but on that particular day I had argueably my single worst day EVER - and then made immediate progress down to 5 thin pads a day or less. There just ain't no rhyme or reason...

That's where I am now, but I feel like I'm getting better & better.
