I want to let those who are experiencing ED know about a new medication  that we are trying.  As you may know, the only thing that has worked for us is penile injections. 

The new medication, which came out this year, is called TriMix-Gel and is injected (needle-less) into the urethra.  It worked for us sufficiently to achieve intercourse.   My urologist also suggested that it could be used in combination with any of the oral meds, which we plan to try.

I had no urethral burning or penile pain (commonly reported with the older intraurethral drug, MUSE).  I have included a link to the web site for anyone interested.  The cost is about $200 (including shipping) for 12 doses. A prescription is required.

Good to know the info cause we are having no luck whatsoever. Do you know if alldaychemist is involved in this one yet? Its kinda steep for our budget.

Hi Tim

I am glad to hear you have had good results with the "tri-mix-gel".  I am currently using bi-mix injections. The straight alprostadil (prostaglandin) injections were very uncomfortable for me, so I went right to the bi-mix.

What other things have you tried?  Have you used injected Caverject or injected tri-mix.  Did you have any problems with them?  The warnings included a possible vaginal burning or itching with your partner, have you noticed that as a problem?

 Has it been around for a while or is it new on the market?   Hope it continues to work well for you.

This sounds a little like Muse in application, but in a gel.

Sorry for my delay in replying to responses, but my dearly beloved and I have been on vacation for two weeks. 

This is a new drug and  only came on the market in 2008.  I doubt if it can be gotten at AllDayChemist. The price is  about $15 per dose.  Our insurance doesn't cover it.

What we've tried is oral meds (no), vacuum (no), Caverject (yes, but penile pain), and QuadMix injections (yes).  So far this drug has worked sufficient for intercourse.

My wife has had no burning/itching/other problems with any of the drugs we've used.

I have been very interested in the Trimix-Gel. I asked my urologist to prescribe it and he said it was not yet "FDA approved", and would not. I also found a compounding pharmacy that mixes Freeze-Dried Trimix. http://www.appliedpharmacyrx.com/default.asp?id=64

According to that site, "Federal Court Affirms Your Right To Prescribe Custom Compounded Medications--August 30, 2006 (Midland Texas) -- In a much-anticipated landmark ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Robert Junell ruled that compounding custom prescriptions from bulk ingredients based on a prescription is legal and not under the jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA had argued that compounded medications are 'new unapproved drugs' and that the agency should therefore have jurisdiction over compounding pharmacies".

I have used the self-injected Trimix ($95/5ml, using 0.20ml) with some slight success, except that it is hard for me to do it once I hit a vein and had bleeding out the tip of the penis. The Trimix-Gel seems a much better choice also as it doesn't lose potency with time/temperature like the regular compounded Trimix. It can be taken on a trip at room temperature and reconstituted using the two syringes when needed. Maybe I just need to get a new urologist!

I wonder what other members have had experience with either the Trimix-Gel or Freeze Dried Trimix, would you share your thoughts?
I am a new member to the site, looks like a lot of very useful straight info from guys that "have been there, done that".

The ingredients in TriMix gel are approved by the FDA for ED but the actual mix itself has not yet been approved.  Physicians can prescribe it and you can get it thru a compounding pharmacy. 

My urologist, who was voted one of the top urologists in the Seattle area by other physicians, keeps up with the newest available treatments for ED and had no hestitations about prescribing it for me.

Hi Tim - This sounds interesting and something I will bring up with my doc at my next appointment. I have random success with oral meds, bi-mix injections work but Im just not wild about the whole process. Would you mind explaining how this works, how it is applied, how long it lasts. etc? Thanks in advance

Pete-- The gel and powder--in two syringes--are mixed just before use. It is then squirted into the urethra, massaged a little and begins working in about 10 to 20 minutes. I'd say it's good for an hour or so.
