How many are taking Statin drugs and still had a high PSA ?

I was reading this "new" info that says Statins may lower PSA but not lower the cancer risk. Just curious as I am taking a statin but my number is not going lower it is still 1.01 and the gland is enlarged.

I have been taking statins for over 10 years now. Cholesterol numbers are good but PSA was up there prior to treatment. Have not had a PSA post treatment yet. I also read an article that indicated statins might improve the outcome for radiation patients. Article did not elaborate just one of those teaser lines with the "further research is indicated" disclaimer. Research never seems to reach a definitive conclusion. Unless you are a mouse. Several articles I have read indicate some treatments with very good results in mice. I had no idea that our medical profession and pharmaceutical industry were so concerned about the health of mice. I learn something new everyday.

I'd been taking statins for years before my first troublesome PSA, so in my case a PSA increase sufficient to trigger a biopsy occurred with statin use in the background (simvastatin max dose). There's obviously no way to know whether my PSA would have increased even more if I hadn't been on the statin.

I too have been taking Lipitor for 5 years prior to my PSA rise.

My PSA only went up over the last two years. Related to the statin? Not likely....?
