5 mg cialis for nerve healing?

Greetings, Fred.  I had RRP in Feb 08.  My doc prescribed Cialis 5 MG 1 or 2 X a week after I had my catheter out.  I didn't seem to need it - got about 80% erection 2 weeks post surgery.  I called the office, talked to the doc's nurse and she said if you don't need it don't take it.  In retrospect that was a mistake.  I should have gone ahead and taken it whether I needed it or not.  As time went on I found that I never got more than 80%.  When I had my 90 day check up, my doc said take the cialis or levitra whichever works best for you (there is a different regimen for viagra and he said we would use that as a last resort).  The cialis worked fine and so did the levitra and I was back to 100% with either.  I hope over time that I may not need it but as long as it works, use it. 

The only side affect I had with levitra was a stuffy nose and flushed face.  The cialis didn't seem to cause the side affects but you can't get generic cialis.  However, I probably would have paid the higher USA price, but after I had taken 10 doses or so of the levitra, the side affects seem to have gone away. 

By the way, I ordered generic levitra from alldaychemist and it works fine at about 10% of the cost of what you pay in the USA. David

I started 50mg viagra generic daily with 2000mg l-Arginine at catheter removal, the pump at 2 months and injections of bimix and trimix at 4 months, for the first year, a daily regime that resulted in zero improvement, which says that each mans rehab is individualized and we can't tell you how or when 5mg of Cialis or whatever will be effective for you. Sorry, but it really is a case by case thing. I do hope you are one of the sooners rather than laters in the ED function.

My doc prescribed the pump and 10mg Cialis every other day. I asked how long this should go on, and the answer I got was "until you are back to normal". Although the pumping is time-consuming and the medicine is expensive, I promised myself to continue the regimen until I saw absolutely no improvement over time. There seems to be consensus that ED meds help with recovery if not actual erections early on. Early after surgery, I could really tell that the Cialis was improving blood flow down there at all times of the day. You should also inquire about using the pump. This really seems to help restore penis size after surgery. It also ensures that the spongy tissues inside the penis get a regular engorgement of blood which is important to prevent atrophy. Although I did not receive or require it, others here on the forum have recommended penile injections not only for useable erections but for therapy as well.

How long before you discovered the backaches, and were they lower backaches? Also how much viagara are you taking a day?

I was on the 5 mg Cialis for a few months... "to get the blood flowing" was the doctor's description. It did help me quite a bit, and although I did have side effects (headache and nasal congestion), they were fairly minor at the lower dosage. I also used the pump therapy, as some of the other responders mentioned. I have also tried the 20 mg Cialis on occasion, in which case the side effects were more pronounced but so was the effect on ED.
