Bloody Urine Two Weeks After Catheter Removed

I am still getting some blood drops when I urinate two weeks after the catheter was removed and a month after the operation. Is this normal? Anyone?

6/12/07 DRE slight "bump"
7/xx/07 Biopsy 2 of 12 PCa, 5%, GS 3/3:6, gland size 30 cc
PSA 1.4 (but was taking Saw Palmetto which decreases it)
10/29/08 Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy performed
11/11/08 Catheter removed, Post-op Path report: GS 3+3=6 Staging pT2c, margins clear
Present: Incontinent, ED, not on Viagra yet

I didn't have this, but others here have. If it is just a few drops of blood, then it is nothing to worry about. If you are cycling or exercising vigorously, consider cutting back.

I agree... if more that a few drops I would call your doctor.

I had some blood in my urine a couple of weeks after surgery and when I went for my first office visit a urine sample was taken and the Physicians Assistant told me it was "old blood" from the surgery and not to worry about it.  about 8 weeks post-op some new fresh drops of blood started appearing in my urine and I went for another test and was told there was no infection and to wait and watch, and if it got worse, more noticible, to call the Urologist.  The past few days the drops of blood have all but disappeared.

I have blood in urin due to a UT infection. Contact your urologist to get it checked out.

Thanks for the replies. The odd thing is that it doesn't always show up, and when it does, it is always right at the end when I am trying to squeeze out the last few drops. I'll wait a week or two and see how it goes. Thanks again.

Rich; I get the last few drops thing too and with some pain as well. It's not blood, but rather a slight tint of blood (pinkish). I'm 1 week from the catheter, but it sounds like me. From what I've read around here, it sounds to be normal at our stages.

Hi Guys,

I have a call in to my husbands doctor regarding same. When I hear back from him I'll let you know what he says. My husband is also getting some burning when he urinates. I'm thinking maybe UT infection. The nurse told him that the burning was normal after the catheter removal, but that it should subside. I'll let you know if I get an answer from the Dr.

Thanks, glabers, I think you are right. I don't have any pain when I pee now, and after several large glasses of water last night (I was up once per hour last night peeing), I don't see any pinkish pee this morning. We'll see how it looks after I get some exercise. Thanks for the feedback.
