Waiting for my Zero Club Entrance Pass

Just got back from my doctor's office.  They drew a single tube of blood for my first post-surgery PSA test.  I did ask the nurse, if they did the ultra sensitive testing and she said they can go to .001.

This doesn't happen every day.  My appt. was at 0910.  Left the house at 0902, went there, no one was in waiting room, they took me back, drew the blood, didn't need any paperwork, drove home and walked in the house at 0913.  11 minutes door to door.  trust me, i've had my share of waiting hours beyond a scheduled appt, but this was nice.

In Easley where I live, my urologist's office is just a sattelite office, drs. are there M-W-F only, and they are trying to build up clientile, so there is almost never a wait.

My followup report with my urologist on the test results is next Monday, I am confident it will be a statistical zero, but deep down inside, it's not over till it's over.

Excellent David...great news that the office is so close by and a breeze...in and out...hmmm...like a drive thru...did you order any fries and a coke??
That first three month test is so filled with anxiety, so I will keep my fingers crossed as you are and you will be able to join the zero club with an undetectable by next Monday.

Thanks one and all, when it comes to that first zero, all you can do is hope and trust at that point. my dr/surgeon feels a high degree of confidence, but again, the test is what it is. the nurse did say, that they test the blood a min. of 2 times.

les - yeah, i was hungry, should have ordered a togo breakfast while i was there. lol.

Like most of your other bro's here, I have followed your journey over the past few months...especially the hell you went thru with the catheter!  So..if anyone deserves a zero it's you and I'll say a little prayer for that result!!!

If I were that office, on Monday you would get:

*A less than 0.001 report;
*A bronzed catheter mounted on a walnut plaque.

One more thing, the results will almost certainly be ready before Monday. You might call them later this week.

tudpock, thanks for the thought, my catheter/spasm hell was just one of many hells we fighters of PC endure, so i dont feel singled out, my situation sucked for me, but i have read of other torments here that would be just as bad. lol.

djbear - i will pass on the bronze catheter, i only this past weekend through out all my catheter gear, took me two weeks to convince myself i wouldnt be needing that junk anymore. when i was through with my radiation 9 years ago for my previous cancers, they wanted to know if i wanted to keep the custom made titantium mask they made for my face, i thought they were nuts and told them why would i want to be reminded of that every day. lol. yes, i could call and but and get an early answer on the psa, but i dont mind waiting till i sit with my doc next monday morning. as my ex boss loves to say, it is what it is.

ralph - thanks, thats all i am asking for right now

diane - i dont know about the deserving part, but its my hope and desire, then, perhaps, i can finally feel like i am on the other side of my hopefully long term recovery. my journey actually started with the first biopsy in 9/7, then the dx in 9/8, then of course, the surgery on 11/8 and the corrective surgery on 1/9. Told my wife, I am tired of thinking of myself as being a patient. give the old man of your a big hug from me, manly one of course, and for you too

Ok guys as president of the club I had to check to see if we could make room for one more. After much review YES YES YES we can take you. So David you better get that darn Zero, I need a vice president and a secretary for the club anyway.

All the very best David - my husband and I have all fingers and toes crossed that you will be a life member of the zero club. It is a freaky time waiting for results, especially the first ones - hope the time passes quickly for you,  and that you can distract yourself until you get the news. Lana & CJ - thanks for the kind words. Believe or not folks, but I am anxious, but not worried per say, I know anything can happen, but I really do have faith in the surgeon/dr, and the post surgery pathology findings. Logic tells me that I am fine, but then, I've been fooled by cancer before. I have enough going on this week to keep me plenty busy, that will help.

Purgatory-I cast my vote as yes for your membership. BTW, the test are usually available within a day or two. I have arranged to call for the results before the appointment. Try to rest until then.

Tim, I could do that, but I would rather just wait till Monday, with my list of questions for my dr. If it is good as expected, I can wait. If by the remote chance its bad, would rather not ruin the rest of my week and weekend ahead, and I would still need to talk to my dr anyway.
