Here's an interesting study that says statins can lower PCa recurrence risk:

Also, several new studies suggest statins help prevent prostate cancer and reduce the risk of erectile dysfunction:

This would make sense, since statins lower cholesterol, and since cholesterol is a building block for testosterone, the testosterone levels would be down. Like hormone therapy. Which correlates with statins having similar side effects, like decreased libido in many patients. But the part about reducing risk of ED, that has me confused.

P. S. I was on statins myself when I was diagnosed with PCa.

Well, the article says: "Protection of vascular health remains an important concomitant of preserving erectile health. Our data suggest that longer use of statins may result in the lowest risk of erectile dysfunction," study author Dr. Ajay Nehra said in a statement.

It seems to make sense to me that the less clogged up your blood vessels are, the less likely your chances of developing ED.

Interesting articles and hypotohesis. I have taken statins for fourteen years and still was diagnosed with an advanced case a year ago. Perhaps I will see some of the post treatment benefit although I did not have surgery.

It's interesting how many people here have been on statins and got PCa anyway. I guess it's not the prevention panacea I initially expected. I wonder if it really has as much effect on recurrence as the study implied.

Thanks for the clarification about ED and vascular health. Sometimes I forget that ED and libido are physiologically separate.
