If you are at all interested in Brachytherapy, your location has truly blessed you (at least in my eyes).  My husband's Brachytherapist - Dr. Juanita Crook - transferred her practice to British Columbia in May and I have only the highest regard for her.

If you are seeking a Brachytherapist - PLEASE - take the time to consult with her and tell her Julie and Kirk from Princess Margaret in Toronto sent you!

Thanks for that. Yes, I have heard of Dr. Cook and I hope to get to see her as well. I have lots of questions in regards to your husbands treatment , his age , follow up health and functionability , etc. Is he available to post ?

Dr. Crook is a fabulous doctor and I cannot say enough about her - she treats the whole patient - physically and emotionally - if you choose to go with her you will not be disappointed.

My husband does not post here but I certainly do - feel free to post any questions you need answered and I mean ANY.  Those who know me around here know I'll answer ANYTHING so don't be shy - ask away.

You will note from my signature that he was almost exactly the same age as you are when he was diagnosed with a 3.74, Gleason 6 (3+3) so he may be a good gauge for you.  If you want a more detailed log our journey, you can search JustJulie's Brachytherapy Journey and anything not answered in there I can certainly answer here.

Hi Julie,

Just to let you know, we saw Dr. Crook and spent a long time with her (2 hours plus !!!!) Very impressive lady. She assured us based on all the factors that I would have a 90 percent success rate with brachy and few if any complications.

How could we not say no ? So I am booked for a CT scan to check the lymph nodes and then for the procedure in early Nov. What are the odds that the best in the country would move to Kelowna at just the right time ? We are literally 20 minutes from the hospital.

Thank you so much for letting us know about Dr. Crook and we will keep you posted.

I am thrilled you had the opportunity to meet her.  We completely trust her so I know you're in good hands (literally).  Good luck to you on your journey - please keep me posted as things progress.
