Thank Barry.

Had a rough night. Hours of nausea, never had a problem with that after n operation. Pepcid didn't help. When that abated, had mild chest pains, was hungry but afraid to eat. Was huring, but afraid the pain meds might make me feel sicker. And on top of that, was wide eye awake for hours, couldn't sleep till after 0430 this morning.

Up now, not planning on doing any more than I have to today. Feeling the full soreness down there in weiner land. Gonna be a fun day I think.

Sephie - thanks, those were well needed. Hadn't heard from you guys in a while, hope you and your husband are doing well.

Jeff - thanks, again, and as usual. Feeling a bit better now. Managed to eat some plain grits and an egg, very mild on the inside, southern styel. Waiting to see how that settles.

Hope the belly settles and you get some good feed time in again soon...and some rest. Hope the surgery was an absolute success and that the rubber snake will be gone for good.

Thanks Mike, so far, pain hasn't been as bad as expected, perhaps because it was laser? Not sure, or it might be waiting to catch up on me. Only had 2 pain pils since yesterday when I first came home, been using Advil since. The nausea last night is mostly over, and I have been able to eat without feeling sick. The output in the cath bags looks clean and blood free, again, may be the result of laser surgery, something I had never experienced before.

I will take what I get, so far, doing better than I anticipated. But will be glad to get this big diameter catheter out of my weiner. Today is day 30 with one contiuous in me.

This evening, no nausea, seem to be passed that part, but there is a lot of penile pain, pain at the bladder neck, and a steady pressure through the catheter. Taking all I can take for meds tonight, just got to bear it and hope I can get more than 3 hours sleep tonight.

I am thinking of asking my dr. when I see him in a week and a half, to give me a referal to the other radiation group in my area, Greenville radiology, and get a second opinion with another radiation oncologist. Based on trusting my gut, not real comfortable with the other doctor I met with Friday. I feel with my 9 months post surgery psa of .16, I need to check out all options. My insurance would pay for either radiation treatment group, so from my side, money is not the deciding factor.

This is the one time in my life that I plan to be as pro-active for my own cause as possible.

Hi David,

I'm glad to hear you got through the day! It seems reasonable to me that you'd have some pain down there after receiving the Roto Roooter treatment! I think that the healing process will be accompanied by pain as well.

Here's wishing you a good night with some more comfort and sleep.

Hi David I think that you should go and see the other radiation group I think it was you that said to me when I was making my decisions that I had to be comfortable with my doctor otherwise there will be no trust in him which is most important

Barry - thanks, actually got over 8 hours sleep last night, something I am not accustomed to on the best of nights.

Colin - I do intend to take my own advice, my mind is made up, I want a second opinion before I committ to any salvage treatment.

Hey, David. Glad you are feeling better. When it comes to radiation, I am told, the equipment they use is as important, if not more important than the doc.

David,

Well just when I thought I might have passed the clip because I had not burning for over a month it is now back.  Have an appointment with the surgeon in Miami end of Oct for another scoping and possible removal of clip left from surgery.  I will also have the results of my 1 year next PSA and hoping and praying it does not increase again.  Taking one day at a type my friend thats all we can do and stay strong.

Jerry, thats all any of us can do, think ahead, plan ahead, but deal with our issues as they come, and try hard not to let them overcome our thinking and emotions.

Today, very little pain related to the laser surgery, impressed so far. Since Tuesday, only took 2 loratabs that first afternoon, none since then. When they did the painful emergency dialation-cath insertion, I went through 30 in about 5 or 6 days and was s till hurting.

Did a bunch of errans this afternoon, tired now, and the cath is annoying me, but no real cutting type pains. Got to be the laser instead of scalpels when he removed the obstruction. Hope that is a good omen when the cath is finally removed.

Today was day 31 on these caths, so sick of knowing its there, still have 10 more to go, then hopefully the snake will be pulled for good.

Friday morning. Another good night's sleep, unusual for me. Very little pain, mostly from the chafing of the large diameter catheter, but almost nothing from the surgical area around the bladder neck. Must be from the use of the laser, did some research on that last night, common approach with strictures. Makes me wonder why the surgeon didn't do it that way in January? Getting a gut feeling that I must just flow decently and without pain after this ordeal ends, that's still my hope.

thanks jake and piano, got high hopes for when the cath is removed on monday, august 31st. today was the first time since the surgery on tuesday that it has really hurt enough to need a pain tablet. wife and I did a lot of store browsing today, and was disapointed to see a bloody leg bag when i got home. this cath is largest diameter they ever put in, and i guess all the walking chafes something.

Okay, I think you've just about been through enough of these procedures. So many catheters, so many reamings. I truly hope this is the last of them and that you can get on with things without all these problems. Keep healing, my friend. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Bob, thanks, would have never guessed in advance that I would have all these additional problems and set backs, but it is what it is, just trying to work through all this nonsense without losing hope about the bigger picture of things.
