Latest on surgical clips

 

Well I went back to Orlando yesterday for the surgeon to hopefully remove the clip that had worked its way into my urthea and had formed a stone from the urine.  The doctor had hoped it would work it way out and I would pass it but no such luck.  The burning and pressure to go was getting worse.  Well it turns out after the scoping yesterday that I now have two clips that have worked their way into my urthea and have both formed stones they are oblong and side by side and covered with calicum deposits my wife watch the procedure on the big screen the doctor had and saw the stones and my newly healed bladder.  Luckily everything else looked good and healed nicely according to the doctor.  However, he did not want to try and take them out in the office but of the pain and possible bleeding.  They are going to call me on Monday to schedule an out patient procedure in the hospital in the next week or so to remove them.  He said at this point it is safe to retrieve because they are all the way out and would not cause a tear or leakage problem later.  He also said it was possible I could pass them but he was not sure how long that would take and I have had a year today of burning everytime I uriniate which is not fun.  He said this happens in about 1 in a 100 cases.  According to him they leave in 6 clips that tied off blood vessels during robotic surgery hopefully the other 4 will not decide to work their way into my urthera.  Went for my yearly PSA on Thursday and hoping no bump up last one 0.1.    

Jerry, I recently had a lower back x-ray and the doc was startled to see that I had a 'box-his description' of clips in me, I estimate maybe 40 or so, vein and artery clips to control bleeding during my open. Spread all over my abdomen. It was sorta freaky to see so much of them still in me.

Jerry, I to had a couple of the clips work they way out into the bladder neck. This was found a month after the robotic surgery. They were found during a follow up cystoscopy for the first of the many blockages I had at the bladder neck. The Urologist went ahead and removed them to get them out of the way since the area was already healed. I hope all went well for you during the removal of the clips. Kbars
