Hi all,
Just got my second zero, hooray! Not quite six months out, and my surgeon lectures me about the stress incontinence I still have. I've been stuck at one pad a day, mostly as a safety precaution, and he says it's probably because I've been slacking off on my Kegel exercises. All right then, time to buckle down.
Had some recent success on the ED front. Not great, but better than it has been. My surgeon says to chew a whole dose of Viagra and then take a hot shower, to maximize the blood flow. Still not where I want it to be, but at the six month mark, it's definite progress. Only thing is I noticed a connection between the Viagra and an aggravation of my existing tinnitus, which apparently is a known side effect (ringing in the ears). It got bad enough that I had trouble sleeping because of it. So I asked my surgeon about getting a Vacurect pump, and he gave me a prescription in case I need one. He also gave me a new prescription for Levitra, to see if that causes the same side effects as Viagra. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover any ED rehabilitation, and all this stuff gets expensive. I'm going to try the pump (I'm afraid of the injections) - it's about $200 versus $16 per pill.
Other than that, I still need the Ambien once in a while to get to sleep, and I'm getting up about once per night, depending on how much fluid intake I have before going to bed. I haven't figured out the right balance yet - either I purposely don't drink anything before bed and then I wake up with a nasty headache because I'm dehydrated, or I drink enough that I'm awake during the night. I keep reminding myself that at six months, all this is about average on the continuing road to recovery.
I hope everyone else is doing well in their journeys.
