Did a quick search on the aspects of walking and improved incontinence control. Almost every da vinci site I found put walking and kegels hand in hand for control. Way to many sites to put the links here.
Personally I have been pretty dry since the cath was removed. There is not a man among us who hasn't encountered that time when putting it away after a trip to the urinal, found that there is a little drip or two that then comes out. I don't consider this IC. Just a fact of life.
The tie between walking and kegels is to strengthen the pelvic floor. The kegels work the controlling sphincter. The walking strengthens the pelvis floor. Saw a very good graphic depiction on a TV dr. show recently on why women and men leak after certain events. BTW women pretty much laugh at us when they hear us talking about occasional leaks. They have been putting up with this for years. Just check out the isle in the grocery or drug store. There is an absolute plethora of pads for women. Most just consider it a part of life after child birth, or the passing of years.
With women it was mostly associated with child birth. With men (not PCa guys) it was decrease in abdominal and pelvic muscle strength.
If you take the little walnut out, there is a space left that allows the plumbing to sag a little, stretch things and put greater pressure on the remaining sphincter. It has to work a little harder.
Walking builds the floor muscles to eliminate some of the sagging.
You mentioned that you were going to try the kegels again. As a surgery guy, I don't think it is a good idea to ever stop. Maybe not as much as in the beginning. But continued muscle exercise is a good thing.
If it weren't, we would all stop weight lifting once we got where we wanted to be.
Just a few thoughts on the subject,
Sonny
