I retired in July 2001. I have enjoyed my retirement from day one. I learned to play golf and try to play 3 times a week.

Retired a little over 7 years ago after working 34 years to the day in law enforcement for the state. Bought a condo and seventeen days later I began working as a service station attendant at Old Faithful Village in Yellowstone National Park. It was an experience being an older gentleman living in a dorm with a bunch of twenty somethings, not to mention working in the Park. Human beings are such an interesting species. Unbelievably people would come into that beautiful 2.2 million acre park and spend ONE DAY! Nuts.

Through a couple I met in the park who'd been doing thepark work thing for 13 years at various locales I found work at Grand Canyon National Park in one of the hotels for the winter. Most of the retired folks our age come with their wives and they both work in the park. There's plenty to do and places to go when one retires even if you're connected. I've done voluteer work for the Disabled American Vets, was a Gypsy Moth Trapper, now there's a story!! An insurance adjuster, after they sent me to school and taught me to say "No" and most recently a CSR for a health club. Check out the Website I listed below. It lists 70,000 seasonal jobs. Must still have something left of value in my head. The two days has been extended to tommorow, then most of next week at least. I was amazed at how quick my brain was able to click back on full speed in my field of expertise after a lot of idle time. Makes me feel better as a person, and less as a patient.
