Hi
I am reaching out for some help from my fellow PC guys. I had a difficult year in 2008. I had a fall in january 2008 at work on ice and damaged nerves in my neck, Feb 2008 I was diagnosed with a possitive biopsy for PC, and in March 2008 through a routine eye check I was told I had advanced glaucoma and had to have eye surgery within 2 weeks to save my sight. It was quite a whirlwin of bad news one right after the other. I held off booking my surgery till Sept 2008, hoping to cure it with homeopathis herbs but it was just to overwhelming to control taking all the herbs necessary, plus my wife was freaking out. To top it all off I ended up in the emergency with kidney stones on two diferent occations in June and July of 2008. To make a long story short it was all too much for my brain and body to handle and I ended up on anti depressents. My surgery was sept 18 and following psa`s have been negative. But as can happen with PC patients, bladder neck strictures come along from scar tissue. so three weeks ago I had it done and the pain everytime i had to stand to pass urine was excruituating. Finally the catheter was taken out on Jan 18 and I went back to work the next day, but I`m finding difficulty with low energy levels and muscle weekness almost flu like symptons. If anyone can give some advice to my situation it would be greatly appreciated
Thankyou for listening

Sounds like an infection somewhere to me and that you should seek out medical treatment.

Fred, you have been through a trememdous amount there, a whole lot of suffering on your plate. I am home recovering from my 4th stricture related surgery in the past 15 months, I know what you are going through, and its no fun. I keep having continual scarring issues at the bladder neck.
Can only hope the doctor got it right for you this time, and hopefully it wont scar back anytime soon. I have now been on this SP catheter since October 1 and its about
to drive me nuts. Hopefully my ordeal will be over in a few more weeks.
Keep healing, and keep peeing, and hopefully you will continue to mend.

Hi David
Wow, what I read of what you`ve been through, its amazing you can keep your sanity. I hated having the catheter in for 2 weeks. You know, we as cancer survivors have 2 battles, we have the physical battle and the mental battle with the cancer. our dr can help through surgery with the physical part but we have to deal with the mental scars after our surgery.
You appear to have great inner strength, to help you through what you`ve been going through with your surgeries. I seem you win the battle most of the time but the war is very tiring sometimes. Hopefully you are finished with all your surgery and you can have some peace of mind
Take care Fred

Fred, thank you.
Not sure I have any inner strength. The duration part of all these complications and problems have really been getting to me lately, it seems like it is an endless process. Its more of a survival drive on my part, and the fact that I have little options. When you block up constantly, the pain involved (as you know it) makes a believer out of you, and things like long term catheter use become a nuisance but needed.
Hope you continue you improve as well.
