leaking with partial erection

A big welcome to what I found to be just a great forum!  We hope to "see" you often!

I'm not surprised as you are so soon out of surgery that you are having leakage problems, especially when trying to obtain an erection.   Others will comment better than I, since I'm only two weeks behind you.  Incontinence can have a long road to full recovery.

As far as the ED issue in general, if you read through this forum, many are still working on ED many, many months after surgery.  So, less than two months from RP, you are probably doing just fine for the progress expected.

You may wish to go to the "Control Panel" at the top of the page and add your signature to your profile with some information on your treatment and your pathology before and after surgery.  It helps the forum comment better when folks ask questions.  The signature then can automatically appear when you make posts.

I am doing kegels. Did them a month and a half before surgery, and religiously since a week after surgery. 3 sets of 10 reps. sometimes more. In reality, I am really an impatient person. It really has been difficult to accept sometimes. I want what I had, and now realize that it will never be as it was. I don't want to say I am lucky, like some people will tell you that you are. I am glad that I am alive, and that I found it early, but I don't feel lucky to have to deal with this. Thanks for the input.

I had DaVinci Oct 12, 2007. Incontinence cleared up within three months. As for the "other" loss I started using a vacurect pump for therapy within three months and it has been very satisfactory for intercourse. On August 12 10 months after surgery mr wee willie stood up all by himself without any help and did the deed he has been working just fine in that area since then. Try to stay positive laugh and keep "working it out". Your nerves have been spared but are very damaged and it will take time. That is what I was told and I wasn't sure it would ever come back. Now they seem to be healing. As for the leaking with the erection feelings, because your nerves are screwed up they are confused and don't know whether to get a hard on or take leak. I would hug and kiss my wife and mr. willie felt like he needed to pee and rise to the occasion at the same time neither happend until August 12 when he stood up and said hello baby. Weird, I think it's was because of the confused signals from the damaged nerves that ares healing. I am posting this reply to give you some encouragment that it can happen. I think guys that are recovered are less likely to post the "good news" because you feel sorta guilty (like your bragging) because of the fellow friends here that don't have good news to post. Anyway, there are good news stories with this rotten disease and I hope you become one of the good news stories and will share it.

Thanks Mama Bluebird for asking that question.  I've never heard of the sling going in during the surgery either.  What's up Ripandburn?  Some of us may be facing the artificial sphincter or the sling.  Neither options sound very promising to me, but inquiring minds want to know. 

Moreover, we want to know if you are limited (with the sling) to the weight you can lift... without damage to the sling, ect. Are you to return to your regular life routine?

You are the only other one I have noticed on this forum who had been diagnosed with a stricture.  Mine was dialated and immediately my stream was better, very much better.  But my leaking never changed.  It never has gotten any better, regardless of the dialation.  My leaking did get worse a cuple of weeks ago when I had an infection.  Urologist suggested the stricture was back in place, but further test indicated it was not.  According to what I have read, strictures often come back to present additional problems. 

I have a tendency to blame the surgeon for a sloppy job, but that may not be the case at all.  I will start biofeedback this week and hope that will help.  If not, I may opt out for wearing the clamp instead of further surgery.  Of course that probably means the total end of my sex life because I would not ask my wife to go through that.  But on the positive side, the cancer is gone... so far.  Keep looking up and best wishes.

P. S.  I still want to hear as much as possible abut artificial sphincter and sling. 

Gene, I am sorry it has taken me so long to get back. I don't know a great deal about the sling. What I can tell you is that my surgeon, David Hollensbe, told us that he had done just over 800 DaVinci surgeries. He said that for the last year or so he has had better results and less leaking with men that he has used a sling on. The sling is actually a piece of pig intestine that goes under the bladder and around the urethra to keep it in position and keep it up better. I believe this same type of thing is done in women who have bladders that have "fallen". I am not sure if it has helped.....I certainly assume it has. Monday was week 6 for me after surgery and I have very little leaking. One light pad all day long. I may have 2 or 3 squirts....and maybe a few that I am unaware of, but at the end of the day, it still feels really dry. At night I have been wearing a larger pad just for security sake. I never seem to leak at all at night and usually wear it again the next night. After reading of some of the things that others here have experienced, I feel extremely fortunate to be where I am. I would think that this is something that is done during the surgery.

As far as weight restrictions, I was told that I could not lift more than 10 pounds before the catheter came out. After it came out there was no limitation to weight. I was advised that "I would know if it was too much". At that point I should back off. I have never felt like there has been too much weight. My wife is an RN, and she has been advising me on what is too much....if you know what I mean. I have been back on the treadmill for about 3 weeks now. Started out slow, but did 15 minute miles last time up. Started the other day with the elliptical. It's a killer for normal people. I did fine. No pain. Truthfully, I don't even know there is a sling in there.

Hi I'm glad I found this site. I was treated in February with a TURIS procedure which hollowed out the Prostate. I was originally diagnosed with severely enlarged BPH which backed up urine into my kidneys. Also partial nerve damage to bladder. Starting around June I had night time leakage and started wearing pads. I've come to conclude this happens when I'm asleep and have involuntary partial erections. My doctor says give it time, has put me on a pill to stimulate the bladder voiding and sees me in December. I was quite surprised yet releived to to others with the same condition and have been told it may take many months. I haven't tried to initiate sex for fear of leakage. Thanks for listening.

I'm 8 months post RP, and have leaks with "dry" orgasms (go figure).  I'm 95% continent, and doc says that the leaks will go away as the incontinence heals.  Hope he's right.  My leaks are not every time, maybe 50%.  Doc says to pee before I start!

i tried the injections for ED when the pills did not work.

Had erection but tended to leak urine with orgasm.

Have gone to Osbon VP with rings and this helped leakage.

Now have Artificial Sphincter and it helps but with orgasm and no rings, still leak a little.

Guess those muscles are allot stronger than the sphincter

Long time since posting out here. Almost 13 years since prostate removal. Very little if any incontinence. Stopped injections within a year from original surgery. Used Cialis and Viagra for a while. Now have a pretty good erection without anything. Occasionally will take a "daily" Cialis. Wife enjoys no ejaculation. Never liked the mess. Can occasionally have urine during intercourse. My wife calls it the new sperm. Life is good. Praise to God and my wonderful surgeon.
