142 - perhaps i took it too serious, but in my world, a 57 year old man doesnt stand there shaking off a painful spasm while pissing his pants, leaving a pool of urine on the carpet of a crowded waiting room. Never felt so shamed. Fortunately, the worse part of the "10" pain portions only lasted in the 15-20 seconds at a time range. Doesn't make it hurt any less though.
dave - you r quite right, its this next PSA test that weighs heavy in my heart. i will take even a .01 decrease in the previous reading that I have made a positive turn
thank you jennifer and sheldon, appreciate it. was so glad my wife was with me, i almost had asked her not to come, as i didnt think she would be needed
barry, does mean that under pressure, the bladder neck could still open, but still too swollen to use on a regular basis, i be the urine show up at least 4' above me in an arc shape of pretty golden spray. dr. got nailed but good, but he laughed and took it all in stride
jeff, thanks my spicy brother. hope pat is still healing well too, was wondering about her. april 6th will be a strange day, i will have the PSA drawn (but no instant results), my wife has to have a heart related test, and it will be our 36th wedding anniversery
lana. not afraid to take the pain pills, but you have to realize, i have been on and have needed to be on pain pills for just shy of 6 months now. my dr. doesnt seem to think i would have an addiction problem, but it does concern me. i wont take them if i know i have to drive somewhere, so usually wait till late in the afternoon/early evening before i take any. yesterday they were going to scope me, so they would have put 100 mg of demoral in me, but i said no to the scoping before she gave me the shot. in the end, wished i had had the shot, would have made the rest easier. plus, this cath change was suppose to be a fairly minor low pain even, both myself and dr. were surprised, but again with radiation damage and other issues, no way to be sure ahead of time. thanks for your care, and enjoy your holiday
thanks to dog, and bedamed and joey, i care about all you guys too, we each have our private battles with PC
alf, my well seasoned nurse of a wife sees it all on a normal day, she tries to take it all in stride, she just hates to see it when i am in deep pain of course or feeling like giving it up. i try to make it up to her, by being the perfect house servant, when she gets home, all she has to do is sip on a glass of wine i hand her, and wait for supper to be finished. she never ever has to do house work or laundry, etc. try to make the rest of her life easier for her.
kbars, you speak from experience. my dr is all too aware how quick that hole can close up. he will not allow his nurses to do a SP change out, he does them himself. As quick as he was yesterday, he said that the hole was tightening around the cath too quickly and too tight, but he knew he had to get it in. most SP cath changes arent so dramatic, they do them where my wife works all the time, old one out, new one in, minimal pain or discomfort. My dr did say, that next time, we will be better prepared for the pain part, he said he fill fill the hole with lydacaine, and put in something to hold it in place for about 5 minutes. he still thinks the radiation damage/swelling is complicating things
