Hello Tallman,
Thanks for the good wishes. It's been a hard fought battle.
I am thankful that I had the Virtue sling removed and replaced with the AdVance sling. Without doing so I would always wondered if my anatomy played a part in the intolerable pain and worsening of my incontinence that I experienced with the Virtue sling.
My fantastic results with the AdVance sling has convinced me that I was a perfect candidate for sling surgery and my horrific five month ordeal resulted from either the design of the Virtue sling, botched surgery or a combination of the two.
My fear is that there will be individuals, which could be helped or cured of incontinence, that will choose to forgo the sling procedure due to the unpredictability of the outcomes to date.
Therefore I think it is incumbent on all sling manufactures to publicly disclose as much information as they know regarding the successes and failures of their devices. This information should include the number of devices implanted to date. This would make the MAUDE reports much more meaningful as a factor in final decisions.
It is pathetic when a medical company is more concerned about
its bottom line than the well being of its customers.
Best regards,
John
