Need help again guys!

Midi, good luck in the morning on that biopsy. They didn't want you on Advil because of bleeding risk, but with the biopsy, its a small risk to start with. I was convinced of the same feeling after my biopsies and PC dx, everytime I had lower back and hip pain, was convinced it was PC spread to the bone. Even with your higher PSA readings, its highly unlikely at this point, but understand why you worry.

Please give us an update as soon as you get it.

Thanks - so Purgatory with your lower back pain - did it turn out to spread to your bones or is that something that's fairly rare and just caused by the enlarged prostate?

Ok - that's good to know - I have tons of symptoms so hopefully I don't have the PCa, maybe just a bad case of BPH...seems to be more of a muscle strain type thing as it's always worse at night when I lie down to sleep.

Was so bad last night, almost went to E/R but ended up tossing & turning till 7 am.

Going to be hard to make it to Uro's office by 1pm but getting a ride from a friend.

She thinks the pain might be related to the stress of it all - think that could be possible?

Yes I did - it was a little painful but not too bad - they took 12 cores & sent them to an out-of state lab so I want get the results till Friday or Monday.

He said size was 54 grams - is that considered extra large? He also mentioned he did not see any tumors or anything out of the ordinary.

He recommended that once results come back negative to go ahead & have a bi-polar turp performed - that since I still have to self-cath that he did not think medications would help at this point.

All in all, glad I got it over with, had some minimal bleeding in first bowel movement but urine seems to be clear. Think I will have any more bleeding?

Still wish I could avoid surgery but he thinks he could get it scheduled in the next 2-3 weeks at the hospital & after that I should be able to pee again.

If it does come back postitive, then he said I was looking at possible removal of some or all of the prostate.

Still want to go over the results with my other Uro for a second opinion to see what other options might be available...

One more thing, I think your question above didn't get answered.

The reason the docs tell us that they wait 6-8 weeks after the biopsy to do any surgery (if necessary), is so that the tissues can fully heal up after the biopsy experience.

Oh, I meant to add don't worry if you do have more bleeding. It's normal. Expect a very bloody ejaculate for awhile

Midi it took a long time for you to get this far but you finally did the right thing. Lets hope your lab report comes back negative for PC and then all you will have left will be the TURP. How's your constipation problem coming along? To "me" your prostate size is not that large but everyone's different with respect to whats normal and doesn't cause them problems. Obviously yours does. I'm sure the TURP procedure has come a long way over the years. My father had a couple sixty or so years ago and since I was quite young I don't recall a lot about how he was affected.

I imagine you've read my stats before but PROSTATE SIZE was 106 grams (now that's a tad large) "it" caused me few problems. Had my rising PSA's and a biopsy NOT found PC I would still have my prostate today. I was not taking any meds.

Yes, tried to sleep last nite but every muscle in my body ached including down there - why would an enlarged prostate casue so much back/groin/hip/leg pain?

I was miserable which I figured I would be - is there any other pain meds that would help besides Advil/Tylenol/Vicodin?

Hey Midi I suppose you read my post from earlier today. My prostate at 106 grams was twice the size of yours with zero hip, back etc. pains My last 12 core biopsy produced very little blood in the urine which only lasted a day or two. Traces of blood in semen were still there a month after.....Suppose some of your pain could be coming from your several times a day self catheterizations. (stress and tenseness). Again you did the right thing with the biopsy as you needed to make sure your prostate itself is healthy and the problems are simply BPH.

I tried calling both my G.P & the Uro and they will not call me back...:-(
