Anyone have Vesicare experience?

Had Doc appointment today (only 4 weeks out, but leaving on 3 week vacation saturday).  Blood in urine is body telling me I was doing to much; just as most of you had thought! His only concern was the lack of progress with continence; he said he noted during surgery that my muscle construction and tone were excellent and the surgery was without issue;  given I have been doing my Kegs every  day, there is no reason for  lack of some progress. Based on my frequent nightly visits to the bathroom before surgery, he suspects an overactive ballder and has prescribed Vesicare.  Does anyone have any experience with Vesicare?

I tried Vesicare, too. I became constipated with no effect on my incontinence. I stopped taking it after about 4 days. Tried it a month later with similar results. (You can have mine.)
I was leaking at 250- 300 ml/day so it is possible a small improvement was hidden by the larger leak. I did not see any effects in my daily measurements.

Nyquil Daytime cold and flu liquid had a measurable effect. I ran that experiment for 10 days.

Stool softeners usually help with Vesicare and was part of my diet.

Vesicare is a standard drug for those who undergo HIFU, indeed it is the first drug that you take in the recovery room. The concept there is not to have a bladder spasm in reaction to the newly installed SP tube.

While your situation is slightly different, the take away is that the MD's are pretty comfortable that there is good efficacy and few side effects, at least for a 5 day course, across a broad spectrum of patients.

I was one of those with good efficacy and no side effects.

I realize this thread is a bit dated but I'm hoping there may be some additional experiences with vesicare. My doc. (surgeon) has a study going on concerning it. I'm going in tomorrow talk about becoming involved. After reading some of these posts, I'm not so sure i want to risk the side effects. Anyway, any additional experiences since 2010 would be appreciated.
BTW, I had my prostate removed on 3/18/13.

Thank you for your reply. I will be heading to the hospital in a couple of hours and I'm trying to bring up any concerns right at the onset.
After reviewing the side effects on line (not always a good source, I know) I found these concerns listed as side effects:
hot, dry skin and extreme thirst; severe stomach pain, or constipation for 3 days or longer; pain or burning when you urinate; vision changes, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights; urinating less than usual or not at all; confusion, hallucinations; high potassium (slow heart rate, weak pulse, muscle weakness, tingly feeling); or severe skin reaction -- fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.

Less serious side effects of solifenacin may include:
headache, dizziness, drowsiness, feeling tired; dry mouth, hoarse voice; dry eyes, blurred vision; nausea, loss of appetite, upset stomach, heartburn; mild constipation; or fever, sore throat, body aches, or other flu symptoms.

Thanks Peter, I just returned from the screening appointment for the study. The study will last 12 weeks. At least they're paying for the diapers/pads and giving me a little money for travel etc. (about $140). Who knows, if I actually get the visicare rather than a placebo, it may help. They're having me log the number of pads I use per day and answering some questions by phone interviews. We'll see what comes of it soon enough I guess.
