I'm 9 months out from RP and have had 4 PSA tests, all zeros. I'm now 3 months from my last test, so I'm due for another test if I go every 3 months. My urologist said I should have one every 3 to 6 months. At the time I told him I would like to test every 3 months for peace of mind, but now I'm thinking I may suffer PSA anxiety. I note Dr Catalona on his web site recommends every 6 months for 15 years. Is there an agreed upon standard for test frequency, and how often do you guys get tested?

Reachout,
I had PSA test every 3 months for the first 15 months. MY doctor put me on a 6 months schedule. I guess it all depends on what your tests are revealing. If there is any increase in my PSA I'll probably go back to 3 months intervals.

My Doc want one every 3 months for the first year then every 4 months for the second year. After that every 6 months until four years then once a year.

My doctor had my first PSA 6 months post-op - and then the next one 6 months later - (see signature)... so, don't know if after Oct if still in zero club I graduate to 1 year interval or keep at 6 months due to stage3a?
-and I expect a regular routine of testing for the rest of my life ....
wishing you all the best

My PSA was pretty high at diagnosis. I had a PSA at 6 weeks and every 3 months after that until last week - my one year anniversary. Since I have been a member of the <0.01 club for the past 6 months he changed the PSA test frequency to every 6 months. (I have a signed request for a PSA at 3 months if I cannot stand the wait. - My goal is to not use it.)

It depends on you, the PC, your doctor, and your insurance.
Your pathology suggests that you may be ok for 6 month intervals after the first year. But if you are like me, the curiosity might kill me before the PC does.

Thanks for the responses. I think I will go with my last 3 month test then go to 6 months, assuming I'm still in the zero club.
