6 month PSA test results

To all:

I had an undetectable 6 week PSA test after my RP.  My next test is in 6 months.  I did a nomogram using the Sloan Kettering website. It indicated a 98% likelihood I would be prostate cancer free in 5 years. 

I feel very fortunate after reading the posting from the other members.  Without reading about the others I wouldn't appreciate the positive news of the undetectable PSA at 6 weeks.

I'm a little curious why your doctor elected to jump to 6 month PSA schedule so soon with a Gleason 8.  Even tho the pathology looks excellent, a Gleason 8 is near the top of aggressive PC.  Many URO's elect a 3 month schedule until it is firmy established that the PC is contained.  Some would also talk about adjuvant radiation with a Gleason 8. 

Not trying to rain on your parade, but as a Gleason 9, I am always watching other aggressive PC protocols.
