Finally, the waiting is over!  It feels as though time has dragged since my positive biopsy in June.  I'm having open surgery and hope to be home by Sunday or Monday, at the latest.  Last week, my wife and I did a drugstore run and purchased all of the post-surgery supplies I read about on this website.

I've been exercising daily even before I was diagnosed and have a very positive attitude about what I expect will be the outcome of this surgery.  I've already beaten alcoholism (29 years sober) and lymphoma.  Iwill now beat prostate cancer.  By my count, I'll have used up 3 of my 9 lives after this surgery!

Good Luck!!! As the Anestezologist (doubt thats spelled right) said to me.... the hardest part for the patient is getting there and getting on the table after that its in the hands of the doctors. Keep us posted!!!

sounds like you got lots of lives left!! congrats on your accomplishments already and BIG congrats on the ++ attitude! wishing you all the best and a QUICK RECOVERY!

Bill -- good luck and speedy, uneventful  recovery to you man.  i'm well into my 21st year now  and really what worked then still applies today....but i'm sure you know that cool .

Good luck. 

The most stressful part of this whole thing for me was making the treatment decision, selecting the surgeon and then waiting for the surgery date to arrive.  The rest was out of my hands.

Dear BilArb:

Good luck.  I had a Robotic Assisted Radical Prostatectomy on June 14th.  I was fearful about the anesthesia, but it was like I had amnesia during the 4 hour operation.  I awoke and my son and wife were there to comfort me.   

Three months later I am 100% except for ED which I had to a degree before the RP.

I hope you have the same results.  Keep us informed.

Pain buttons are a good thing. Cough pillows are a good thing. Wife shopping with you for your post surg stuff ahead of time is a good thing. HW support guys/girls are a good thing. Attitudes like yours a very good thing. Wishing you more and all GOOD THINGS!

Best of luck tomorrow Billarb.. we are all here waiting for your return. You are ahead of the game in that you found this website before the surgery .. it helped get you to the right docs, buy the right things, and hopefully allayed your fears a bit .. now .. get through it .. and come back to us .. soon!

Hi Bill,

All the best for your surgery and our thoughts are with you.
I remember you posted once in the August surgery thread and I hope that some of what we learnt there will help you too.
My best tip is not to eat too much before your first bowel motion.
