Purgatory, yes, I'm considering SRT, but my margins were negative, so I really need to do a serious risk-to-benefit analysis on that one.

TaurusBull, I can see why you have the willies. That .25 is a bummer, but it may just be a one-time shot based on your personal life. Stay up, stay happy, and good luck. Please post back how the results were.

I'll have my blood drawn for 18 month post-op PSA test on the 28th of September. Last test was my May, one year PSA which was <0.1. I seem to really have a bad case of anxiety about this one.

I'm getting more and more nervous. Will I get another reprieve? Or will the noose tighten?

mel, i will write down what i think your next one will be, based on my love of numbers and your case. i dont think i should tell you in advance, don't want to jinx you. my uro and I have already mutually agreed on what we think my Nov reading will be, and we are both hoping to be dead wrong. But he has seen a lot in his 30 years.

Had my Brachytherapy procedure on May 26 and first PSA after that on August 26 (first three month test). Got a 0.12

Hey David, we should have a pool.

If I had to guess, I would say 0.04 (on mine). It could easily be 0.03-0.05.

If it stays the same, I'd be very pleased.

If I get the blood drawn on Tuesday, I'll have an answer to post before your surgery!

Well it would be great to get a psa close to [0]  again. psa on 9/17 /10 @ 6.34 going the wrong way. fast 2.0 points in one month. mad

My PSA will be tomorrow (or Wednesday if I so choose).

I have it sent to my local doctor, my local urologist, and my Ford doctors.

I also have it sent to a friend who is a physician and he gets the result to me by the next morning.

I'm just posting this to bump this thread up.

Having just had a September PSA of <0.1 (my best yet) I'm thinking about all you guys waiting for results too.

A thought occurred to me as I clicked on "Post a reply" that we really do have to put up with an endless repetition of anxious waiting for results followed by the analysis of what ever we hear about the minutiae of two decimal point differences.
With my lab only testing to the one decimal I sort of feel happy that I'm not worrying about the smaller changes other guys mention between say 0.04 and 0.05.
I know this may sound like a step too far, but I was actually thinking that it's a pity that the technology does not as yet mean that we can have a home testing kit like diabetics. I haven't worried that much about my results so far, but I almost feel like I'd be happier watching my PSA level every day rather than have one peak moment of worrying every three months or so. My thinking is that if testing became a routine activity it would for one thing show up the true nature of any fluctuations etc and by being so routine would actually lower the stress levels associated with testing. The idea being that when you went to see the uro for a three month check-up you'd show him a print out of the whole period and not just be dealing with what at present can seem to be somewhat more abrupt changes.

Although I do get the 2-decimal version, I think the doctors at Ford prefer the one-decimal version for exactly the same reason you mentioned: less anxiety.

However, I'm not sure I would have less anxiety.

Just had my three year psa test since my surgery in 2007 and it is still is <.04   The only problem that I do have is occasional stress leaks which I can live with. I also ejeculate urine during orgasm, which I hate, but I can live with that also. Small price to pay for not having cancer.   ED has never been an issue with me, and since day the my catheter was removed,  I can get a rock solid erection without drugs.

Over on another thread we have been debating the 1, 2, or 3 decimal places of precision on the PSA.

My Uro & the rest in the same practice will not do the ultrasensitive for just the reason you state - they believe it generates too much anxiety, and gets in the way of overall healing. My GP will do 2 places. None of the "in-network" labs I can use with my Insurance do 3 places.

I think that to effectively "ignore" everything below 0.1 costs time in some cases. On the other hand, maybe it gives you extra time before you mentally get thrown off the cliff again. Seemingly valid arguments on both sides, so I got the 2 place test on my own with my GP just to see what would come back. Thus my <0.01 report in August.

I will say that I got a few caustic remarks back a few months ago questioning if I really was interested in my treatment if I was settling for <0.1.

I contributed my blood on Sept. 15th. Still waiting for the result. Twiddling my thumbs, trying not to bite my nails.

After this test result I am considering not having the ultra-sensitive anymore. Ignorance is bliss, I think.

mel - test results in 2 days for me, lab is located in another city. doesnt seem long to me

Not sure what you mean by test results in 2 days. Aren't you having surgery then (or is that what you are referring to).

Anyway, I'll try and remember to drop by the CHAT event tomorrow night.

- up here in universal health care land - it is usually two weeks from bloodwork / test to then appointment with doc to get results - ( yearly physical, cholesterol, PSA , whatever ...)
-and yes, it does not actually take that long ....

-for my pathology report - operation on nov 18 - told to set appt with doctor for january 8 - ( holiday season break ?) even though the pathology report was dated and ready on dec 2...

-latest bloodwork was done on August 18 - and I get my results back on September 23....

-regarding : willlies - my dreams/nightmares bounce back and forth from having a PSA of 2.5 have to do RT and HT .. to less than zero - 0.02.... I keep trying to focus the dreams on the 0.02 segment .... whatever happens I will deal with it then ....

will update my signature then .... ( keeping fingers crossed)

Actually, I believe I can go to the hospital lab, do the PSA, and then later that day go to the records department, Pay a buck or two, and they give me a copy of the results.

I haven't done this since as I said a friend of mine who is a local physician gets the results and lets me know immediately.

So, tomorrow morning I think I will see the result.
