Jerseycity,
I use a Mettler precision laboratory balance. It has a resolution of 0.01 g with a capacity of 2000g. I also have a couple with 4000gm capacity. I weigh pads before I put them on and tare the unit. At the end of the day, or the next morning, I rip the pad out of my undies and flop it on the scale. It indicates how much weight the pad has gained to 0.01 gram! The scale is so sensitive I can actually watch the pee evaporate from the pad.
A little explanation is in order. I do lab work in my home so I have several
Mettlers for different purposes. I even have a Mettler with a capacity large enough to weigh myself. I can tare it, take a sip of water, and it will indicate how much I drank. It is perfect. Conversely, I can pee in a cup and weigh the pee on the precision scale, then weigh myself on the full scale and the numbers match within 2 g! Fantastic.
There are other uses. I can tell you how much of a particular portion of food I ate by weighing myself before and after. How much I sweat... What did I expend by walking... How much moisture did I exhale.... It's endless.
How does my wife stand me?
You can buy an ordinary kitchen scale for $50 that has a resolution of 1 gram. That is plenty for this project.
Good luck.
Jeff (still virtually dry - but not doing any lifting)
