-as I recommended before - just go with the flow ( pun intended) and let your body heal and start communicating with itself again.

I could say - don't get too cocky about the ED ( just to insert another pun and see what the edit-programme does with the word) - but with you and your determination - the ED will be a thing of the past...

Now all you have to do is work out a new name ... hmmmm .... Worried Guy (the XXXXX one) or ....

Jeff, That's great. Now if you can break the scale habit. One day soon the postal scale will be back on the shelf in the pantry and it will only be a distant memory. Looks good.

Hot Dang Jeff, thanks for getting my day off to a GREAT start. When we talked the other day I could tell you were a little down and I sure am glad to see that things are getting on the right track for you.

The April Gathering will sure be a great celebration for you. Look forward to "Not Leaking Anymore Jeff" at the party.

Bronson is right about the name change. You may have to change it to "What Have I Got to Be Worried about Guy".

Jeff,
Looks like you are making progress. You will be able to tell more as you begin more activity. I started leaking more with my sling when I started going out and getting in and out of cars. Laying and sitting down does not give you a good test of leaking.
Keep away from those lifting above 5 pounds and equally important, anything that strains things things down under.....like getting in out of cars without being careful.

-I am amazed at your 3 hours between visits limit - if I go an hour between pee breaks I am lucky - ( have been influenced by you and have measured the amounts when I seem to be going more than I should) averaging 1/4 to 1/2 cup per break - down to one pad per 24 hour period - staring with fresh pad at bedtime ( virtually dry in morning - up 1-3 times on average during night) -
-my main enemy is still lifting anything or bending to put on socks or tie my shoes - car rides are not as bad as before -

-you are an inspiration to many here - with your studies, determination and your humour (humor - for those south of the 49th parallel)

Wow! that's great. 15ml, I could definately live with that. I just shorted P&G stock and have Hollister on my short watch list. I have two more weeks till "D" day for me.  Boy, look at me tempting fate, i should know better by now. Keep those legs together and don't bent over!

I use a Mettler precision laboratory balance. It has a resolution of 0.01 g with a capacity of 2000g. I also have a couple with 4000gm capacity. I weigh pads before I put them on and tare the unit. At the end of the day, or the next morning, I rip the pad out of my undies and flop it on the scale. It indicates how much weight the pad has gained to 0.01 gram! The scale is so sensitive I can actually watch the pee evaporate from the pad.

A little explanation is in order. I do lab work in my home so I have several Mettlers for different purposes. I even have a Mettler with a capacity large enough to weigh myself. I can tare it, take a sip of water, and it will indicate how much I drank. It is perfect. Conversely, I can pee in a cup and weigh the pee on the precision scale, then weigh myself on the full scale and the numbers match within 2 g! Fantastic.

There are other uses. I can tell you how much of a particular portion of food I ate by weighing myself before and after. How much I sweat... What did I expend by walking... How much moisture did I exhale.... It's endless.
How does my wife stand me?

You can buy an ordinary kitchen scale for $50 that has a resolution of 1 gram. That is plenty for this project.

Update- 1/31 2 weeks post catheter (3 weeks post AdVance Sling Surgery)
Leak is 5 ml per day. Dry! Below evaporation limit.

I am still following the rules: no lifting, no strenuous activity. I sit when I sneeze, I only cough gently, and have not blown my nose with full force since the surgery, I have not run, or spread my legs wide or... I've been a good boy.

At this point, I would consider myself Leak Free Pad Free, LFPF, but I know there is some leakage because I can see, but not feel, evidence in my underwear at the end of the day.
I ran some experiments (please don't ask for the full test protocol) to see how much liquid I was actually leaking and how fast it evaporates.
I confirmed my typical daily leak varied from 3.6 ml/day to about 7 ml/day. For my standardized evaporation test I used 100% cotton Hanes briefs with 2 ml of water at the target area. The liquid evaporated at a rate of 0.55 ml/hour at a relative humidity of 32%. That's not quite 0.01ml/per minute. This evap rate is so consistent I could use it to time the cooking of my hard-boiled eggs.
In summary, except for test purposes, I have stopped wearing pads. Typically I am awake for 16 hours so as long as my leak stays below 8.8 ml/day. I am LFPF and totally dry. This number will vary as humidity changes.
For the past 2 nights I did not wear a pad. What a gift! (Simple pleasures for a simple man?)

I have another 4 weeks to go before I dare lift anything or participate in any strenuous activity. That will be the true test.

I am drinking caffeine. Coffee for breakfast. It's not that I am avoiding alcohol I just don't drink all that much. I think I had half a glass of wine in the past two weeks.
I am sitting here at the kitchen table pad free! If I go for another week like this I might even go out and buy some "Big Boy" underwear - so I don't have to wear these any more!. Woohoo!
