I know exactly what you mean, Clock.

Back in December we had a snowflake that didn't melt before it hit the ground here in Las Vegas. We had a pile up on the freeway when a fertilizer hauler overturned, the schools closed at 2:45, people were lining up at the store buying up all of the brandy. OK that was just me. Heck I even had to have my wife remove the cactus needles off my back after trying to do the snow angel thingy.

PS: You all stay warm and safe...

This blizzard is a walk in the park for us folks in Erie, PA. The only time you se Erie on the weather map is when it has something to do with bad weather.

Oh, please.  I-70 is closed from the Mo. state line to Illinois, wind chill -20F., 8-12"snow blown by a 40mph wind, 4 ft. drift in front of my garage door which faces north, plows in the ditches and the rush hour was nil.  Glad I have a bowl of hot chili and a basketball game to watch.  Life is good.

What ever happened to Global Warming when you need it?

It was 30 below "F" here this morning, worse with what they call the wind chill.

The Global Warmers are all very silent these days, probably inside burning fossil fules to beat the band, and working on ED issues, or whatever. (loved that line, Clocknut) However, first warm spring day no doubt they'll pop up like the dandelions.

In the meantime my U.S. friends, when you hear a weather forecast saying a big winter storm is moving down out of Canada, please be aware that two days previously, our weather forecast said a huge winter storm was moving down out of Alaska --- it's your storm, we just warmed it up a bit before sending it on.

The biggest Global Warmer of them all, Al Gore, said today that "As it turns out, the scientific community has been addressing this particular question for some time now and they say that increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they have been predicting as a consequence of man-made global warming."

So, if it's too cold, it's global warmng; if it's too warm, it's global warming; if it's too dry, it's global warming; if it's too wet, it's also global warming.

Whatever's going on, I feel sorry for all the guys in the Midwest whose PCa surgery is scheduled for tomorrow.  I doubt that they'll be able to get to the hospital, or that their docs will be able to get there either.

I have a relative near St. Louis who was to meet with his uro, his radiologist, and his oncologist today to discuss the next step after his positive biopsy.  The meeting was canceled because of the weather, so now he has to endure another week of anxiety. 

We've been having brownouts here in extreme northern Illinois.  Sure hope we don't lose power.

 

Denver got 3 or 4 inches but the story here is the cold temperature..It's 9 degrees below zero now and its been below zero for over 24 hours..They say 15-20 below tonight..The power has gone off (and come back on) several times..A big outage would be a catastrophe with these temperatures...

This time yesterday we had a "Thunder Sleet" storm. Which means is was actually thundering outside and the rain that turned into sleet covered the place in ice.

Being a first time Pickup Truck owner.. I filled up with gas the night before and loaded up 8 X 40lb bags of top soil in the back of the bed to help out a little.

Even 18 months after surgery I discovered this morning that balancing on a ladder to paint a wall is like a reverse kegel exercise. Fortunately I was wearing some old clothes. And fortunately I did not spray the fresh paint!

And sorry guys, I have no desire to start an off-topic debate about the snow etc, but the problem relates to "climate change". The idea is that when the earth warms up it changes the climate, that's basically the statistics for a whole year, and not that it makes it warmer everywhere. Snow all over the USA and rain all over OZ etc is merely the "weather" which is about what is happening outside today. The month may thus have been colder than normal in some USA states, but the planet as a whole has been warmer, hence changes to things like Ocean currents which in global terms are things which power weather systems.

It's also nice and warm with a pad in when it's cold!

I as really glad I had my surgery in August. Also glad for my wife as she was able to go for a long walk in the woods while I was in theatre.
I'd almost recommend people time their surgery around the weather if they can. Also handier after surgery when attached to catheter to be able to wear nothing much more than shorts and a very loose shirt every day.

Also glad that I had my SRT in April/May/June. I had just one day on which it rained. I would have hated to have been been trying to travel to and from Amsterdam in this winter weather when roads, metro and trains were all disrupted. (There is normally a train very 30 minutes from my local station to the station near the hospital but for a couple of weeks ALL those trains were cancelled all day every day!!)

I say go make snowmen!!!! Then perform a daVinci on them!!

The snow in my yard today is, in most areas, up to my belt.  In some areas, it's up to my head (six feet tall).  The rope starter just broke on my snowblower, but it was useless at this depth anyway.  I guess I should feel happy that five months post DaVinci procedure I can hand shovel these tons of snow.
