I have lurked on this Forum for more than a year – since I started off down the road that so many of you have travelled. Though I’ve never posted, I have found the information here priceless beyond measure. It has been my strongest prop – full of hard knowledge, insight, wit and optimism. Thank you all for your contributions.
I’m posting now because I seem to have run up against something of a brick wall. Today I had my first ED injection – Caverject, 10 months post Da Vinci. Sure, it worked, where the Viagra, the Cialis and the pump didn’t. But oh did it hurt! There is no way I’ll be looking at intercourse on that! I’ll be phoning urology tomorrow to tell them not to bother sending me a prescript
ion.
Now I’ve read here a lot of guys having the same experience with prostaglandin who have then been fine with bimix. It seems to be the way to go. My problem is that here in the UK we don’t seem to do bimix (or trimix). It seems the concept of a compounding pharmacy just doesn’t exist, so there is nowhere to get it.
Do any of you Brit guys (or others) on here have any advice on this? Is it possible to get bimix in the UK? If not, can I source it myself – either from the US or elsewhere? Looking forward to your help.

GDW, Welcome to the bright lights, thanks for stopping lurking in the shadows. Caverject--ugh......yep, it can be painful and off-putting. I don't know about
compounding pharmacies in UK, but someone will, so wait for it....

GDW, I don't have an answer for you. Caverject worked fine for me but $$$$ as heck.. Have tried Bi-Mix and it works just as good. Hope you find a way to get it there. Have you asked at your pharmacy if there is a compounding pharmacy in the UK. You Uro may well have an answer for you as well.
Best of Luck

Have a peek at this other thread, and good luck.
Find a Compounding Chemist, and confirm what he can "Make Up", Then TELL your doctor that you want it..

GDW, well, no UK folks yet, so let me crank up my rusty search engine. Here's what I found. NOTE: These are not anything I am recommending, just a source list for you.

Well, that's a start. There's not much specific to UK out there.

Thanks for the bump, James. My urology nurse has promised to investigate this for me. I'll report back when I get an outcome.

At last, some news. It seems that bimix and trimix have not been approved by NICE (kind of a Brit version of the US's FDA) and so are not available through the National Health Service. It may be possible to source these privately but the cost would be very high - much higher than Caverject - and so there is no demand. There being no demand, there is no supply. At least the Urology Dept at my hospital have not been able to locate a source.
The good news is that the few jabs of Caverject I have done, seem to have kick-started things a bit and I'm getting very good results now from Cialis. Good enough to be able to consign the Caverject gear to the back of a drawer, hopefully for good.

Goose,
I had the caverject the other week (at Guys Hospital london) for the first time and like you,
had quite a bit of pain.
I asked my ed nurse about
Trimix and Bimix and she said it wasnt available.
I got my caverject prescript
ion today so will try and persevere with it for a bit.
Good luck,
Mike

Guys, thanks.
Even better news. Spontaneous, unassisted, Class A erection last night. Must be a week since I last took a Cialis. So maybe the prescript
ion can go to the back of the drawer, too.
I'm telling you this, not to crow, but because I want to share the good news. When I started off down this long road, I looked every day on this Forum for encouragement. There wasn't a great deal - maybe because guys were bashful, didn't want to seem to be showing off or had just moved on from here. But I felt better every time I heard some other guy's good news story. Anyway, there it is, for anyone who will take encouragement from it.
And tomorrow is the first anniversary of my Da Vinci.

Hi guys,
I had been using Caverject for 4 years prior to my RP due to long term ED and did get used to the ache, also there was something happening during that period that was an excellent distraction :)
However since my surgery i have been using Caverject for penile therapy and the ache is back again. I asked our GP about
Bimix or Trimix and he went into a lengthy explanation. It tuns out that each regional health authority is broken up into different areas that can have different rules on what is available and that information is usually held by your local pharmacist as he is the one who deals with the prescript
ions. I was advised to talk to my Pharmacist about
what ED drugs he is allowed prescribe, then you go to Urlogist who has to send authorisation to your GP who can then issue the prescript
ion.
Long winded or what ???? personally i am sticking with my Caverject for now and hope i gradually get used to it again.
Have fun, Bob.

Interesting comments on Tri-mix. All 3 drugs used to compound Tri-mix are available in parental form (i.e. sterile) in the UK. Papaverine with difficulty however. So from a technical point of view one could compound the injection oneself. I am also told by my pharmacist (a large wholesale and retail pharmacy) that he has been asked to source papaverine injection and I gather (but didn't press him) that one doctor is prescribing it as mono-therapy. I understand it is much less uncomfortable than Caverject. This discomfort with Caverject is (it is supposed) made worse by recent surgery. I personally find the discomfort little to bother me but then I have not had prostate surgery.
