New to ED drugs (I have ED caused by MEDS not cancer)

Hello first of all. I'd like to start with I'm a 40 year old white male and I'm suffering from ED, my assumption is because of blood pressure meds (and possibly other health meds I take daily) combined with excessive stress in my personal life. I do not have any physical conditions like cancer or anything (that I'm aware of).

After battling this for the last couple of years, I finally decided to get a script for some kind of ED pill. I've had samples of Cyalis and Viagra (never levitra until now). Viagra worked in 100mg dose only. Cyalis I don't think worked at all for me. I asked my Dr. for Levitra because it was the cheapest of the 3 at $9/pill in 20mg dose qty 9 (special purchase through wal-mart/sams club).

First thing I'm wondering is what's the lowest dose I can take to get results out of Levitra, I'd like to split them in 4's and get 36 5mg pills instead of 9x 20mg pills. I'm assuming I'll have to experiment and see what my body reacts to. I have a loving wife who is supporting me through this, so....

I have also placed an order thru ADC thanks to this thread too, I guess I'll see what the results are in a few weeks whenver my order arrives (I ordered all 3 generics to experiment with as my Dr. had no samples of anything)

SO: My real question here is, how many of you have had success with 5mg of Levitra? and at that dosage would you suggest daily or as needed? Is it better to chew the tab first? I had also heard of a method of grinding it up to a powder and using nasal spray to essentially "snort" it and it works almost immediately....

And my last question, which may be better suited in another section - I am over weight - And I'd love to be able to find a source like ADC for Adipex or other diet PILL (not injections). Can anyone suggest a source for that?

Hi VR,

High blood pressure is a cause of ED so lowering it can only be a benefit

You mention you are overweight, is your cholesterol OK, that can also be a cause of ED, keep the blood flowing good

Stress is something you will need to address that can easily cause ED, try walking as a stress release, it will also help with your weight and BP

Oral Ed meds lower BP for a short period of time, check with the Dr that is prescribing the BP meds if they play ok together

There is a free 30 day trial of Cialis available all you need is an Rx from your Dr and go to any pharmacy no Ins required get the 30 x 5 mg pills

remember the ED pills do not give you an erection, you still need to be able to send the signals , get aroused, be in the mood, etc.

Viagra and Levitra absorption is food dependent, if you were not aware. Take either one 1 hour after a meal and do not eat 2-3 hrs after you take them. This info is on each ones package and on their websites

Also note that men here have ED because their plumbing has changed and we need a much higher dosage of an oral med that the average male who is experiencing ED. Full dosages of meds are required so a 5mg dose of Levitra really has no chance for most of us

Levitra works well for me. Best is usually on an empty stomach with no food for some time. However, there have been several times I've taken levitra about a half-hour before a good meal and have not been disappointed a couple hours later. If I take levitra after a meal, response has been generally minimal. That's just me.

Good luck. Hope you find what works for you. I think we all respond a bit differently to these meds.

VR, Welcome here Hope you get some help. I might suggest that you look at another site as well. Franktalk.org is a site specificly for ED issues. All kinds of help. You may find it helpful.

Taking pills to patch things should be avoided when possible.

Start exercising - eat a balanced diet and lose the weight and stress which will probably help with the blood pressure shocked

Since you are in need of both Hypertension medication AND perhaps ED meds, you can always try this: (Quoted from Wiki)

In patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension, the pulmonary vascular lumen is decreased as a result of vasoconstriction and vascular remodeling, resulting in increased pulmonary artery pressure and pulmonary vascular resistance. Tadalafil is believed to increase pulmonary artery vasodilation, and inhibit vascular remodeling, thus lowering pulmonary arterial pressure and pulmonary vascular resistance. Right heart failure is the principal consequence of pulmonary arterial hypertension said...


Looks like the best of both worlds perhaps? Note that they use 40mg levels for PAH dosage. And that is a daily dose (i wonder if once a day or 2 x 20? Not sure).

At ADC prices that would be less than $2 a day. Maybe talk to your doctor about that. Cut out one med and double up on this one. And be happy!
