Hey guys, I've noticed that a lot of guys who have returned to work quickly have desk type jobs. I on the other hand,am a construction worker. I install automatic fire sprinklers in commercial and industrial buildings,so I do a lot of HEAVY lifting. If any one else does a lot of heavy lifting in their line of work, please give me some kind of idea when you were able to return to work.
Right now the idea of picking up something heavy every few minutes and peeing myself, does not sound that glamorous. Nor the fact of changing pads in a port-o-let skull

I don't have any heavy physical work in my job. Just as a reference from my surgeon, I was kept on a 5 pound lift limit for about 8 weeks, then 10 pound limit for a couple of months after, so I would not have been allowed to go back in your case.

I do have some heavy lifting from time to time with my job. I was back to work 10 days after surgery with half days due to just being too tired to put in a full day. I saw that lifting more than 20# was just fine after 6 weeks. At 5.5 weeks no good,... but it was like a light switch at the 6 week mark all of a sudden no problems with heavy lifting

They put me on a 15 lbs limit till My next visit which is March 23rd. Work is slow ,so I was laid off before surgery but things pick up in the spring and summer. Hopefully things will pick up and I'll be able to get some work in. Only 2 more years till I can retire at 55 and just hoping I can do that!

My doc said no lifting of anything over 10 pounds for six weeks after returning to work. I returned to work three weeks after surgery.
