Mel,

      I'm glad you enjoyed the steaks.  I have worked in the meat industry for 25 years, and I can tell you that nothing beats a nice filet or t-bone done on the grill.  I have also had great steaks fried in a pan.  I cut my own filets and bacon wrap them, and then grill them with Montreal Steak seasoning.  Medium-rare for me, and medium for the rest of the family.  Omaha Steaks is great, but the next time you order, try Rube's Steak House (Rubessteaks.com).  I think the steaks are better, and they are a little cheaper than Omaha Steaks.

                 By the way, I got tattooed on Wednesday, and should start my own SRT adventure the Monday after Easter.

We just finished dinner. Mel inspired us to have our monthly steak. Our favorite is a thick ribeye. I have a friend that supplies the best Angus beef to high end Atlanta restaurants. They were wonderful. Grandaughter's second birthday tomorrow so we have dozens of friends comingver. Not a single thought of PCA tomorrow.

I checked out rubessteaks.com. I think they are a few bucks more than Omaha Steaks (Omaha always has some specials and/or coupons).

Anyway, I don't want to overdue the steaks bit!!

Congratulations on reaching the halfway point! Good luck on keeping the SE's to a minimum. I have to admit I was holding my breath reading your first post about the computer failure. With your recent luck, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop but it looks like you came through.

Did you take JNF's advice about enjoying a glass of wine with the steak?

Roadracer, don't mean to hijack compiler's thread, but am I reading your PSA history correct? You've had all <.01 but had a single bump up to 0.09? If not a typo, does anything explain that?

You are reading my PSA history correctly.  When I got that 0.09 result I felt sure that I was on my way to salvage radiation, especially considering my post op pathology.  The subsequent <0.01's were received with hallelulias.  The folks at Henry Ford eventually blamed the high reading on lab test error...especially since it wasn't their lab that did any of my tests!  In January of this year, they said they didn't need to see me or perform any tests for a year and I walked out of the clinic six feet off the ground.  My rational side tells me IT might still recur but, for now, I'm celebrating my life and squeezing every drop of joy out of it!

Wow, that gives me some hope that my .05 was also lab error. I'm getting mentally ready for SRT in case it isn't, and following Compiler's journal.

Hang in there Mel.

This is the week that you might start noticing the SE's. I am down to my last 4 days and so far every side effect that was going to happen, has happened. But nothing that I can't deal with. My oncologist has been very careful to explain each week what to expect. So it wasn't a big surprise when they happened.

Don't worry to much about the machine/computer problems. The computer won't allow any treatment unless you are 100% aligned properly. The table alignment is done by the computer - or at least where I am going it is. So no human errors can occur. I think you are using the same equipment I am using.

#20 completed today.

I wish it would be totally uneventful...but:

Much of the groin pain had disappeared (80% or so) by this afternoon. However, starting about 90 minutes after today's tx., the groin pain returned, this time more in the testicular area. I am now aching.

On the positive side, no other SE. There have been no bowel or hemmrhoid problems and no fatigue. Just the pretty constant groin pain. Hopefully all of this will go away after the txs. are over.

I had my regularly scheduled meeting with the RO today before today's tx. At the time of our meeting, the groin pain had pretty much resolved. I did tell him about it and how it has been a problem. He doesn't seem to have a clue about this. He seems pleased that I am having no other SE. I get the feeling he is anticipating some and I guess that is to be expected.

I hate to be whining about all of this on HW, but I am going to be totally honest.

You know, it is interesting that this RO always sees his patients on Mondays generally before the tx. He always asks how we are doing NOW.

Maybe he should see his patients Thursday or Friday.

I bet he would get a different story!!

One positive comment about the radiation/oncology place. They run like clockwork. I walk in at 3:45, change, and they call me to the table at about 3:50-3:55. I am generally dressed and leaving the place by 4:10.

I always thought that was dumb too, on Mondays, you are starting a new week and had all weekend to recovery from any pains or troubles.

You can be thankful you didn't have some hour plus sessions laying on the table like I did.

Since yesterday's tx. that sharp bladder pain returned. It had calmed down before today's tx. I expect it to worsen later today, but I have been pleasantly surprised before.

Still managing to avoid bowel/rectal/fatigue issues.

If you are concerned, ask for an out-of-cycle visit with the RO.

Make a daily list of issues, and take that to the appointment, Cover all the points, regardless of day. Just because you feel better today doesn't change what you felt yesterday or last week.

One day at a time.

Mel, could it be bladder spasms like many get from the catherer after surgery? Those are pretty painful, and they come and go. Maybe with the inflammation from the radiation the bladder goes into spasms.

It's pretty discouraging that your RO had no clue.

VERY GOOD DAY TODAY.

#22 done; 16 to go.

Today my bladder seemed extra full. Due to being busy I had not urinated for 5 hours before getting on the table. Very uncomfortable (I was uncomfortable the previous 60-90 minutes). So, did the tx.

Afterwards, absolutely no discomfort or any other SE.

I may have to experiment more, but it looks like a new plan (to just be extra full bladder-wise).

We shall see, but it is nice to be pain-free tonight.
