I have a bunch.

After I got PCa and was trying to figure out what it could be beyond simple genetics I ran across a few somewhat dubious links linking the ink injected in us to cancer.

Now I want a new one. A quick query on it didn't yield anything satisfactory. Does anyone know of any definitive study that disproves the hypothesis that tattoos can cause cancer?

Tattoos are a very personal decision, personally and fortunately I never did see the sense in injecting ink into my body. Sorry don't know of any proven study regarding them being cancer causing, but I do know there certainly not going to help prevent it.

So, Dave how many tattoos, what types of artwork, colors, (locations-optional lol), overall costs spent. Might as well elaborate......

There are tons of articles on this. The only one I just now read states:

"While tattoos have not been shown to directly cause cancer, there is one way in which tattoos have been shown to indirectly cause cancer. The reason that tattoos are known to indirectly cause cancer is because they make seeing areas of the skin which may be affected by cancer more difficult to see. "

Is it the ink from the tattoo that may cause the cancer or is it the air in the tatto parlor???? or maybe its the aftershave or perfume on the person giving the tattoo..... WAY too much thought and concern into this in my oppinion. No real data to linc the two.

LIVE LIFE and ENJOY!!! avoid the obviouse carcenagens like smoking and agent orange when possible, but the true secret is to ENJOY! and if that means getting a tattoo then I say GO FOR IT!

To give a contrary view to natural44, I'd say that tattoos probably cause prostate cancer, especially in teenage girls. So does body piercing. Easily reversible cosmetic procedures, like dying your hair green or pink are probably safe. That's what I always told my daughters.

I never had any tattoos until I got cancer. Now I have two beautiful ones, well to me anyway. I am ready for number three.

If it were me I’d forgo the tat and take the money and repay family members who may have helped me out in the past with surgical bills that insurance did not cover. If they refuse to accept any $$ or no repayment is needed, then I would donate the $$ to a charity in their honor. That’s my altruistic, non-inked spin on this thread.

Uh oh, David, I sure hope there's no truth to it. My boyfriend has half a dozen or so tattoos and dealing with his prostate cancer already has him thinking about a new tattoo. I would hate to think that the ink that's being injected is a factor...this could turn into a really awful catch 22 situation :)

I don't have any, and my father didn't prior to his diagnosis. He added one to his chest after being diagnosed.

I've never heard of tattoo ink causing cancer - well not any more than everything else that causes it!

Heck, I read on here that the "healthy" fish I've been eating is now consider bad for PC.
