one week untill Robotic Prostatectomy , any tips?

Clock I rather much run the risk of offending an occasional woman here than do anything like was done in the past to censor and stifle communications here amongst PCa victims. Personally I know few women who would be all that offended by the remarks here appearing an a PCa forum. I have no idea if the OP was, she may or may not have been. You can't judge her reaction by her lack of response. Following posts did answer her questions and she may have never seen or objected to those comments a few here are freaking out about.

I come from the perspective that back in 2008 here I witnessed two women moderators censoring, deleting and telling 2 PCa victims how they should speak in their own support forum about ED issues. That was one of the most absurd things I ever witnessed in any kind of online forum. The only reason I see to have women moderators here are for wives and female relatives of PCa victims for support. In fact the present woman mod is here so rarely I don't even include her with James and Tony when speaking of HW mods. I think her interest here has naturally waned and her title is basically just honorary at this time.

This is a MALE disease thus some allowances have to be made for that. I'm sorry if a few women will get offended by talk amongst cancer victims. Maybe they should insist their husbands come online themselves then. I wish some wives did, for there are way too many lazy and/or online phobic men who would be better served here not going through their wives in their PCa education.

Ok, after further review and researching some old stuff which gives guidance to nowadays stuff, I have very selectively edited out the use of overly graphic, unnecessary or provocative language used in the thread. Seems there is a limit to what is allowed, and it begins with what we probably would recognize as 'locker room humor' You know what I mean. Yes, there is a time when appropriateness can be crossed or things can be worded to present a strong comment. I think we all know where locker room humor starts and hope you agree that it is inappropriate in this context, on this Forum. There are some lines that can't be crossed, and I think we did cross them today. There are numerous other words and ways to get the same point across, it just requires a little creativity on the posters part. So, apologies all around to anyone and everyone who disagreed with the original action or with the current one.

Since I jumped in and messed it up, I will jump in and clean it up. Comments and concerns can be addressed to me, rather than the other mods.

PS, if any of our regular women have read the original version of this thread and would like to comment on their reaction to it, I would welcome your input, either here or in my email.

I had zero shot at it with a week to go. We arrived at the hospital for the prescreening tests on February 14th. Valentines Day. My surgery was two days later and my wife's birthday the next day was spent at the hospital. We never thought about sex we both had too much on our minds. And right after surgery I was placed on hormonal therapy that would keep me shut down for intercourse for 3 years. I am doing well with no incontinence and with my testosterone returning so has my ability to function.

Our marriage is stronger than ever. I don't know where I'd be without that woman.

I posted the two rules for a couple of reasons.

1) to remind everyone that there are some, which seems to be oft-forgotten.

2) regardless of the liberties that we have in talking about some pretty brutal subjects, if the rules were applied to the letter, well, let's just not go there.

I hate to say that some thought I was saying let's be literal. I was just trying to let others see how far off base things can get.

I felt like the original "joke" was not worded such that everyone understood the context (I did not - I was less than pleased with it, but expected that it might clean itself up. Boy, was I wrong). Some later comments were right up there with stuff you wouldn't want your family to hear.

I want the board to continue to be useful for myself as well as everyone else.

 

For what it's worth, (not much) I oppose any censorship on this website. This is not a Miley Cirus site and any teenager stumbling in here would go "ewwwww", and make a hasty run back to a game web site. We are all adults, and, personally, i enjoy making fun of this disease we all share. It is one of my very best coping means, and I never drive past a cemetery without telling my wife that I reserved a resting place in thar, and that they give discounts for Gleason 9's.

One of the commonalities I noticed at gfmph weekend is how much joking about Ed we all shared. I loved it.

As a group of guys, I seriously doubt any of us are offended by language, and when my wife and I are among close friends, neither of us are thin skinned about much. We've been through to much together for that nonsense.

And as a side note, I would never invite my 16 yo daughter to this site. She has no reason to be here. I do have a 27 yo daughter (who looks 16) and I have invited her to browse these threads all she wants.

Guys, I just don't understand the outcry. This is small stuff, and you know what that bumper sticker says about small stuff.

Don't we have more important issues to discuss?

My last point and I'll shatup.......I always have the option to turn this thing off and do something productive....don't you?

I think the best signal we've gotten about how all of the "extraneous" comments have been received is that Klains has not posted recently.

Her thread got hijacked and used badly (in my opinion, and yes, I am a little older and have some pretty (no, brutally) conservative opinions).

 

my thoughtful wife set us a card table in the bathroom for me with all the needed and handy items such as:

Pads

adult wipes (helps against rash)

desitin (also for rash)

q tips and vaseline for cathetor care

a pair of pj bottoms that you can cut the leg off at the knee (easier to deal with cath bag that way)

sounds strange but reading material as you may want to take your time on the toilet for #2

scissors and plenty of bandage tape for securing cath tubing per instructions.

the hospital gave me a pitcher to pee in, this was handy to monitor my urine output after cath removal.

your heading into a good time for this as you will appreciate getting outside a lot

didn't say he was in it just for the money. But it takes money to make this site as good as it is and of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with a for-profit venture.
