If your uro had been really preparing you (and in this case mine was not), you would have been started on Kegels before surgery. Pity I don't hear many that get started early, and I certainly didn't.
One of my support group guys started coming to the meetings a couple of months before surgery. We got him started, and although it might have nothing to do with it, he was stone dry from day one. If only I had known...
Anyway, NO Kegels with the cath in, according to my surgeon.
There are as many ways to do them as pages that mention them on the internet.
I use the hold 10 seconds, relax 10 seconds, and do that 10 times for one set method. I do that 3, sometimes 4 times a day. More than that acutally causes problems for me, as the muscles get overworked, sore, and then leaking returns big time.
