As my rehab from surgery seems to be going well, a new(well kinda old) issue has reared it's ugly head. In 2010 I was dx with Osteoarthritis in my right knee. I was given a shot of Synvisc( chicken goo as I call it),which acts as a shock absorber and lubricant for my knee, All was going well till yesterday. When I tried to get up to go potty, my right knee was locked up shocked Lucky for me I already had an appointment with my DO to get a shot in my hip for Bursitis. After an X ray, he informs me that the arthritis is getting worse and is starting to deteriorate the knee joint sad I received a cortisone shot and was put in a new brace and I have an MRI set up for July 13th. He said that the knee will more than likely need replaced sooner that he thought sad
I guess things happen in 3's so this should be it for me. One thing after another it seems. Good thing I got my SSD papers in already!!!! smilewinkgrin

You're not alone. I have the same problem in my right knee and the pain is getting really bad (does take the mind off of PCa once in a while). I'll be seeing Ortho surgeon in a week to see if now is the time for the new knee. I feel your pain. Not looking forward to another long recovery from surgery. Squid.

I tore the meniscus in my right knee in February, have had it repaired but still sore.

Hey Slink

If you slip the surgeon an extra 50 bucks he will do your knee surgery by going in through your DaVinci holes.
With no knee scars you can keep your career as a leg model.

As a physical therapist who works with knee and hip replacement patients all the time I just want to say the results from these surgeries is fantastic compared to years in the past. Don't dread the knee replacement. Yes the rehab is long and can be painful but the quality of life is so much better afterwards. You hear horror stories about the ones that don't work out but the success rate is around 95-99%. Just make sure you do your exercises. My wife had her knees replaced 7 years ago (at 49,50), shes still going strong.........

Hmmmm... maybe bad knees cause PC!!!

I had surgery about 5 years ago. I had a torn meniscus in 2 places and some bad arthritis. One surgeon did not want to do surgery because of the arthritis. He said the results "would not be what you expect."

A second surgeon said "no problem; I can fix that."

I went with the second surgeon. The healing took a bit longer than I expected (I thought with the scope I'd be just perfect in a week -- it took about a month).

I've been fine ever since. He gave me my life back!! Of course,now there is this PC thingy...

My knee surgery was almost 40 years ago (ACL, MCL, meniscus) so any link between PCa and knees has got to be the because of that new fangled arthroscopic surgery. My various scars all indicate that I like a doctor to have room to work. I'm still waiting for things to get bad enough for a replacement.

My dad had the chemical shock absorbers, too but they only worked for a while. today my dad is out two months after having proshthetic knees installed. He is doing great and already practicing his golf. He wished he had the surgeries sooner...
