Groin and scotum pain 1 month after prostate removal..Davinci type

HI,

 I HAD A 5.2 psa,3+4-7 gleason,12 samples,3 had cancer and one looked suspect!I had a prosectomy(Divinci) 1 month ago.Ihave had a constant burning at the tip of penis,had a urine test but it showed no infection,the burning has improved but now a new pain in the groin right at the top of both legs,and also the right side below one of the holes,it hurts so bad it now is hard to walk.I left a call at the Dr but no call yet.Is this common or do I have something else going on?

Hi Gams. No, it doesn't sound normal to me. You did the right thing by getting in touch with your doc ASAP. Hope nothing serious. The doc should get to the bottom of this and hopefully give you some relieve quickly.

Thanks for the reply!I finaly got a call back from PA,He said he wasn't worried ,thought I might have had some scar tissue issues,I do have an appoinment,this Thursday but I think it is more,I still have a sting in my penis when I do Kagels,and I literaly am having a hard time walking,it feels like a hernia on the right side when I walk,pain is extreme and not getting better.Could my bladder be leaking down to the joints of pelvis,it is actualy real sore on both sides but more on the right side,should I demand to see the DR?The Dr does have an attitude though he threatened to not do the surgery as Iwas 245lbs on first visit,but I explained I had already lost 45lb's,then 10 more before surgery.He was late for surgery,and told my wife I did better than expected,but I should lose more weight so his great talents won't be wasted.I realize that weight is an issue with this surgery but later found out many surgery's are done evry day on overweight patients with the Davinci.I had a real hard time from my first meet with him but I hated to start the process all over again to find a more compasionate DR.Sorry for venting but I am very disappointed in the treatment
from this group so far,but I;m trying to be positive and get this behind me one day at a time.Thank God for these forums!

Gams, sorry to hear you are unhappy with your doctor. I kept moving along until I was happy with those who were going to work on me. I know it made a huge difference in my mental state.
Eleven days after my surgery, and I can report that my scrotum is slightly swollen. Only stinging and it is very slight is at the tip of the penis when I urinate, leakage doesn't seem to cause any stinging.
Are you tensing to much? Using the wrong mussels to control urine flow?

Thanks for the reply.I'm pretty sure I have the kegals correct.Urinating ect is working,I can stop and start ,no problem,these are the same muscles right!This pain when I walk is what has me concerned.The only reason I stuck with the DR is, he had great qualifications,I asked and reserched him,I can get past the arrogance,but if had to do it again I would change.I will post my opinion of his bedside on Healthglade's ,but it is in my best interest to be on the clinics goodside till this is over.

Several weeks following my surgery, I experienc ed similar pain. When I would walk I would frequently have a sensation as if one of my testicles was being pulled down and squeezed. Although it was unpleasant, I was told it was all part of the healing process. All patients need to remember that just because robotic surgery seems easier, it is still major surgery.

Patients should be careful not to overdo it during the healing porcess!

hello, I had my prostate removed 3/12/11 and 2 week,s after i had pain,s like yoy discribe and the Dr said it,s part of healing, thhe next day i went into e.r. and i had a full blown infection and spent 3 day,s in hospital, I also left with drain in my side where your feeling pain.2 wk,s later had drain taken out, 2 wk,s latter had more pain went to er and was told i was i was a woosie, sent home, lab called that nite and had me come in that nite i had another bad infecction, Yes thier is alot of pain with this and don,t let the doctor dismiss this ,It,s better to be a live woosie than a dead one, like i would have been twice if i had of not persisted on getting treatment, Just thought i would share this with everyone and i,am thankful for this blog because thats where i got my knowledge and ball,s toget the right info,If not I more than likley would be here to shere this with you.    John

smhair  I amstill in pain,after I went to the Dr..which I'm seeing the PA..they checked urin sample ,took blood,and set up for a ct scan the next day,I drive down to Swedish and get the Ct scan,but they did not see the suspected kidney stone the Dr and Pa thought was causing the pain,so they set up a ulta -sound,in which three techs were brought in to verify or not verify a liguinal hernia or a sperm cord hernia ,were not sure yet ,as I have to wait till Tuesday to meet the Dr and Pa for next steps,t he Pa stated this was not serious this started 7 days ago .I been living with pain,It's getting to the piont I can barely walk should I have gone to emergency room???I'm skeptical of a emergency Dr treating this,my prostate plumpbing seems ok,the leakage has slowed alot the last week I 'm at about 4 pads a day now,but I have been less active.Should I wait two more days or go to Emergency room! smhair

hello, DID THEY GIVE YOU ANYTHING FOR PAIN AND ARE YOU TAKING IT, DO YOU HAVE ANY KIND OF A FEVER WITH YOUR PAIN, AND DID THEY COLTURE,S it,s a tuff call only you can make about going to the e.r. i had alot of pain with my problem and finally i said to hell with this and i went into the e.r. and ia,m glad i did they finally figured out twice for me, lot,s of luck my friend, keep in touch, JOHN

smhair  Yes,I'm taking them but nothing helps when I.m walkiing or going up stairs , they took samples and had them tested for infection but they were negative but tdid have red blood cellsmwhich are infection,my other groin side also is hurting but not like where they think the hernia is,the dr said it wasn't serious but wow the pain is like sqeezing you nuts all the time...one more day till Tusday!

My story goes on...I went to Dr or PA again ,he checked the results again from CT scan,and Ultra sound,I do have a small inguinel hernia ,and a minor UTI,so he perscibes ,dilaudin,and sipro,and refers me to a hernia surgen,so we go see him,he says it is very small, probably not the total source of my pain,and he recomends a pain Dr,which I could only get a appoinment in 7 days,by now it is hard for me to lift my legs to get in the car,I am using a cain to get around,AND Dilaudin helps much  more,I left a call with my PCP to see if they could offer help,or suggestions,never got a call back.I woke up this am a said I cant go on!I looked an old chiropracter,because I have felt some of this could be a pinched nerve and an adjustment will help,so I got in today,they took me in within a hour from when I called,they applied the STI and ice and Art adjusted me and I felt much better,he said I was badly out ,I know this maynot be the total cure but at least it something,Istill feel alot of pain but I think its a move forward till next week,I also made an appoinment with a spine surgen,I have problems with L5.t-12 so I will back to the Chiro tomorrow again for more treatment.They were the only one's that realized my urgency..this is hard..but I will beat this!!!

More to add on my behalf as the original topic post!

Chiro visits had an imediate relief for a while as the pain was was pulling my whole alignment out of wack.I finaly got a visit to my GP,one look at me how I came into office and he sent me to ER,after about 5 hours they admitted me in to Swedish Hosp in DENVER,they put me on the spine floor,to have me eveluated,after telling my same story to I'm not joking to 5 or 6 DR'S,RN'S,ECT,they were sure it was a back problem,they proceeded to have a leg vein and artery ulta-sound,and another MRI on my spine,Iwas rushed in to have anerve block epidural,this actuall helped for a while,I was now able to walk and raise my legs,but the groin pain was still there,keep in mind,the first ultrasound showed I had a hernia possibly wrapped around the spermcord,thats why it feels like someone is pulling on my testicle.I'm still in hospital going on 5 days,I was evaluated today by a general surgeon who agrees the hernia is the problem and schedualed me for surgery Monday,20 days after the pain started,I still to this day have not seen the Urology surgeon,he has not even scheduled a blood test to see where my PSA is,I called this office on the second day of pain,and I feel like I said in the first post,I have seen no compassion from these people,our health care system is broke!I haven't seen many replies on my post since the last,but at least I WAS ABLE TO VENT
