Last night my husband was admitted to the hospital in to the icu for low white blood cell count it was 1.8...also his blood pressure was low:( He is on the jevtana and it is one of the main side affects.. they have limited his visitations we cant go back til tomorrow at 8 am .. they are worried his won't be able to fight off an infection brought in which I am so thankful for the care the r taking with him .... my question is is there something I need to be aware of that may get over looked ?????

I am sure they are taking good care of him. Be sure and take care of yourself. Get plenty of rest. When I was in the hospital my wife always went home at night to sleep and get rejuvinated even though they had a sleeper chair in the room. Then, she came back in the morning. I so looked forward to her arrival in the morning. It was also an opportunity for her to send out emails to family and friends regarding my status. Take care.

Chrissy,  I'm very sorry to hear that your husband is in the ICU.   We'll keep both of you in our prayers.  As was said above, don't forget to take care of yourself while they're taking care of him.

Chrissy, I am sure that they are thinking of everything at this point.

I know where you are right now though. My wife has had a stem cell transplant in her fight with cancer and low white cell count is always a concern with us. There is a long list of things we do to protect her and with few exceptions, it has served us well.

You are getting some real good advice about resting and regaining your energy each day too. It's absolutely important. My wife and I had an 8 week grind when she was last in ICU and as hard as it is to leave each day, it's also a necessity for both of you.

Chrissy: With low WBC the only thing to do is keep him in isolation till his body can produce more. This is a common problem with chemo therapy. Know that we are thinking about you guys. Hope his counts start to climb real soon.

Hey Chrissy, Praying for you and your husband.

Gavin has just come out of hospital. He was in for an infection and extreme pain. he is due to start the jevtana on Thursday. I am hoping this one

helps him, even just a little. I know it is hard staying strong all the time so if you need to talk anytime, I am here.

All I can say is that Chrissy and Karen your husbands are so lucky to have you both fighting for them. You and your husbands are in all our prayers and hope to meet all of you in the future at one of our GFMPH get togethers.

Chrissy good advice above. You have done a great job and now it is time to let the medical pro's take care of this. The best thing you can do now is take care of yourself and get things ready for his release from icu. Best wishes to you, Karen and your husbands.
