In the short time I have been here I have come to respect you and to marvel on how active you continue to be with all that has gone on in your battle to kick PCa buttocks.

May the days before you be more than the days behind you and may those days be painfree and full of joy.

I pray that the new pain medication regimen helps to improve your quality of life. You have been through so much with this ordeal, and struggled with such courage, that you are in inspiration to all of us.

bud, thank you, in the short time you have been at HW, you have been a great and encouraging poster yourself, good luck to you as well, as you continue your own unique journey. we most definitely are all in this together

your ron's neck pain/surgery/pins, made me cringe to think of. he's definitely in the "School of Hard Pain". In the 2 years that I was on a constant diet of Loratabs, I have been fortunate, they have never made me nauseated or sick, and not once, have they caused any constipation. I know lots of people that get really sick from them. I haven't been on the patch and new meds long enough yet, in the morning it will only be 3 days. If the patch is doing anything, I can't tell. The dr. wanted to start both meds at higher doses, but he said he knew how cautious I was, and decided to start lower. When he checks with me in 2 1/2 more weeks, I will give him an honest report, and if either or both need to be dumped, he can adjust the scripts.

thanks on the writing compliment, but published or not, i am not a literary person in reality, thank goodness for spell-check and grammar check, lol. as i do in my novels, i write from the cuff and from the heart, always been my style. i will have to give some thought to a PC related non-fiction manuscript. i just can't imagine it being that interesting to the general public. we have enough trouble just trying to get the public and the media interested in PC awareness as it is.

I came here probably about six months before you and have followed your journey closely from day one. And what a journey it has been. Every time we thought you had a victory, you would get knocked down and we fell with you. But, bloody hell, you would get got right back up again and renew the battle. And right through (thru?) all this you were always here for others------ welcoming newcomers, sympathizing with all our setbacks and reveling in the good news of others. And all this time you were in fairly constant pain and battling its accompanying demons. You cap all this off with those interviews, still not lamenting your own predicament, but purely trying to help others. I have said it before but you truly are a man among men and it is an honour (honor?) to know you, albeit remotely.

Thank you, Juliet, my doctor is both things and more. He's very caring and compassionate, but still a deep thinker, about both my situation as it is, and how it may progress in the future. I feel fortunate that I got hooked up with some of his level, it will make whatever lies ahead, easier to deal with, and gives me the confidence to look ahead.

Thanks for the very complete report/update.

There is no right/wrong path at this point, after the curative bullets are used. You just have to forge your own way and you are doing that.

Hi, David

Thanks for sharing your latest news. I've never experienced the kind of pain that you are dealing with and couldn't say how I'd react if I did. I'm glad there is a new option to try in order to manage the pain, and I'm glad that you have found an oncologist whose approach is right for you. I deeply respect your courage and the decisions you have made to create the best quality of life for yourself. You are very clear and articulate, I hope you'll continue to share your experience.

Thanks, David, for understanding. I was almost afraid for once to even post an oncologist meeting update, didn't feel like getting slammed, but thankfully, it didn't happen this time. I sure like your PSA numbers, you are doing well for yourself, I like seeing stories like yours.

Quality of Life vs. Quantity of Life, is one of the toughest scenerios to deal with in life, whether you are talking about your own, or that of a loved one. It's very subjective at best, and there are so many personal factors involved, personal medical histories, etc, like all things, not easy to get resolved in your mind and heart.

My doctor and I both know, that today's game plan, is subject to change on short notice, depending on future progression of the cancer. Despite how it may look to some, there isn't anything that is positively off the table. All options are still out there, and can be quickly adopted if needed.

Hope you continue to do so well yourself.

We are all praying your new prescription will alleviate your constant pain.
