The Oakland Raiders will be wearing light blue in honor of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in Sunday's Game against the JETS!!! The are the ONLY NFL Team to do so this!!!

Suddenly I became a RAIDERS FAN!!!!!

VERY COOL...it would take A LOT to make me a Raiders fan, but for this game, anyway, they've got one more!

That's great on the wearing blue, wish they all would. Now only if the Raiders could play football......

that clinches it then:  even though I'm a Chargers fan, I'm picking The Raiders to beat the Jets in my football pool.  I think it's a good upset anyway, and this tips the cart in the dreaded Raiders direction.

The Raiders have been miles ahead of any other NFL team when it comes to marketing their merchandise. They made a killing from it in the 80s and then watched as their logo/brand became associated with crime and criminals. I'm not surprised they're doing this but am a little more cynical than the rest, it's about selling a new shirt.

I must have been blind because I watched a lot of the game and didn't see anything.  Did I miss something or did you have to be there?

I re-read the press release:

"In support of prostate cancer awareness, the famed Raiderettes will be wearing blue ribbon pins, an end zone banner will be on display and stadium officials will play a public service announcement featuring Raiders legend and prostate cancer survivor, Jim Otto. Three prostate cancer patients and survivors will be presenting the game ball, adorned in blue jerseys with a number that represents the age at which they were diagnosed. "

So apparently the Raiderettes wore the ribbons, not the players.

I looked through hundreds of photos online, doing my best to find a closeup of a Raiderette wearing a blue ribbon. No luck. tongue

I watched the game and checked the color on my TV. I didnt see any Raiders wearing any Blue wrist bands just saw Black and Silver???

Disappointed told all my friends to watch.....

Kind of defeats the purpose. Being made aware of the awareness that doesn't exist.

That didn't make sense I'm sure, but I'm sure we'll see the pink whistles and ribbons soon.

I found this link by Dan Zenka of the Prostate Cancer Foundation, who I think has posted here on HW. He talks about Blue September and the Raiders organization's support of prostate cancer awareness. So, the team wasn't wearing blue, but the support by the organization was there: http://mynewyorkminute.org/?p=1683

After thorough research, I believe I have found evidence of blue ribbons adorning some of the Raiderettes.

Take a look here. Be sure to look VERY closely (the ribbons are small!)
