C & P today - first, you should know that my eval was farmed out to QTC. If you don't know, QTC is a private contractor hired by the VA to assist with C & P exams to speed up the process. QTC in turn contracts with area medical people (a doctor, radiologist, labs, etc.) to do the exams for them. The lab work and work done by other specialists are sent to the assigned doctor for evaluation. The doctor assesses all the reports and sends them to QTC. QTC turns over the reports to the VA.
I had four conditions evaluated, including the PCa. My blood pressure was checked and the nurse gave me an EKG. The doctor inspected my body (head to toe). She noted the five robotic incision scars. The VA had my medical records. For me, all my troubles started back in the 90s or earlier. So, I had extensive documentation because I had medical insurance and could afford to be treated. The VA gives strict instructions on what it wants done. I guess where my records were so extensive, the VA only needed verification that I was in fact a live person and my claimed conditions existed.
The PCa part of the exam the doctor asked several questions that I had answered on the questionaire. She was suppose to do a DRE but spared me as I have had several recently. This was my initial PCa exam coming after surgery. There isn't much to investigate once the prostate has been removed. My case is simple since I have no scheduled treatment after surgery, just the three months of follow up PSA tests. I suppose the residual exam will be different. I have 3 1/2 months left of the 6 month treatment period.
I've read so many horror stories about the VA on various forums, I was expecting a stress interview. That did not occur.
I took Sonny3 advice and took all 400+ pages of my past medical records. The doctor could see I had the records as I had them in folders. She didn't ask to inspect them. After the visit with the doctor, I was referred to a lab for urine and blood work up and to a radiology practice for a chest xray. That was it.
