Sixty years old- After being on Active Surveillance for localized Prostate cancer(Gleason 3 + 4 ) PSA 4.9 for 8 months decided to actively treat the cancer in a non invasive way with little risk of side effects by going to Germany for one week of Hyperthermia plus 6 weeks of CAB ( Complete Androgen Blockade)

A friend went 18 months there for treatment Gleason 7 (4+3 )and is now cancer free with negative Biopsy performed by Dr. Bahn
Came back today feeling great and very happy I avoided the questionable benefits and significant risks of surgery or radiation -the only  treatments Canadian and American Physicians are really comfortable with

I meant 6 Months , not 6 weeks, of CAB using Avodart, Casodex and Lupron

Glad you are having such success. Can you expand a bit on "Hyperthermia"? Is this HIFU?

Very diferent

Transurethral Hyperthermia kills the cancer cells in prostate with heat not Ultrasound, and CAB fro 6 months  kills any  circulating cells

Maybe will to set up an info site in a few weeks better explaining  this treatment

I would like to hear more. I googled it. There seems to be limited information but it sounds interesting. The thing that worries me somewhat is the hormone therapy component. Any long-term effects from this? I also can't find much regarding how accepted this procedure is by the medical community at large or to be more blunt, whether this is considered as "quack" procedure. However, from what I understand Germany generally is a country with fairly high standards.

Would you be willing to say how much the treatment costs?

You sound like where I was 8 months ago -but 8 year younger and even more to lose with possibel risks
it cost 6000 euoros about $10,000 total plus air

Maybe we should talk on phone or email but not sure how we can do this via this type of forum

Noticed your other post

If your area is localized enough Dr. Trachtenberg at Princess Margeret Hospital may be able to do local laser therapy on you - with little risk of side effects
