My PSA has begun to rise (again), a real disappointment to say the least

My PSA (7 months after SRT) has risen to 0.10 with a PSADT of 8.6 months.  The doubling time probably isn't too significant at this point because of the very low PSA numbers.  The plan is to get one or two more tests to get a better idea of the PSADT.  If it stays at this rate I will start IHT.  In addition to IHT I am considering pelvic lymph node radiation but am not sure the risk is worth the benefit at this time.  Since I am now 75 yrs old, the overall survival benefit of treatment is not nearly as important as quality of life.  I still have a lot of questions but do have time to keep learning.

Truly sorry to hear about your PSA rise, that's always a disapointment after enduring salvage radiation. Between now and your next PSA reading, should give you time to think through and weigh out your options. At your age of 75, I would be thinking strongly in terms of quality of life issues over sheer extension of life. If you go on to HT, you will have side effects to deal with, and the risk of the extra radiation if chosen, may very well not be worth the additional risk.

 Sorry to hear about your rising PSA. We are about the same age and we both had SRT. I'm at the 3 year mark after SRT and thus far are doing ok, but that can change very quickly. Quality rather than quantity would be my option should I have make that choice.

Hi Carlos, sorry to hear about the rise, I am heading the same way, If I was in my 50's this would be more worrying, but at nearly 71 it seems easier to cope somehow.

Sorry to hear about the PSA increase... Hopefully it will be sloooowed so you can minimize any additional treatments that would diminish your quality of life. This dang PCa seems to be tough to keep at bay sometimes...
